Much of the food - including the delectable cheese tortillas - is handmade, and some of their specialties can't be found anywhere else.
The proprietors are certainly a friendly bunch! They didn't see me hopping around outside at first, but when they did, they made me feel right at home. The head chef will often greet guests personally, which is a nice touch and contributes to the welcoming atmosphere.
Family-friendly fun
As I'm sure you're aware, it gets pretty hot here in Costa Rica - just the way us treefrogs like it! To make sure guests are comfortable, Las Cazuelas is more like a beach hut than a traditional restaurant. Patrons can sit on benches and feel the warm breeze on their face as they chow down. Not only is this a great way to enjoy lunch, it also makes eating a social event, which is how Ticos prefer to enjoy their meals.
Children are especially welcome at the restaurant. During the peak season, the establishment sets up bounce houses, horse rides and other entertainment to keep the little ones occupied.
