The beautiful province of Cartago is one of the most important tourist destinations in the country. Located in the lush and fertile Central Valley, Cartago attracts plenty of visitors for its tranquil surroundings and rich natural beauty. Cartago city, the provincial capital was the first Spanish settlement in Costa Rica and offers some amazing views of the Volcano Irazu in the distance. The Thunderbird Resorts Tres Rios project is based in Cartago and will be the first luxury hotel of its kind in the area. This resort will have its own Las Vegas style casino, a spa and health club, an excellent convention center and a private residential community as well. Seeking to cater to the many tourists who come to this region, this resort and casino will be completed in the next few years.
Most Costa Ricans enjoy visiting casinos as they are nice informal places to play in. The Dress code for most casinos is casual and they are not as imposing as the casinos you see in places like Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Minimum bets usually begin at around 500 Colones, which is very affordable for most people.
