Pavones Beach
A naturally beautiful province, Heredia offers the perfect escape from a fast paced urban lifestyle to a more relaxed pace of life. Lush and green, this part of Costa Rica is where the Spanish conquistadors first settled when they arrived here. Home to some historical churches and picturesque adobe homes, Heredia is also famous for the gorgeous Parque Nacional Braulio Carrillo and the Rainforest Aerial Tram. Inside the Braulio Carrillo National Park, you can climb up the Volcan Barva, for magnificent views of the surrounding area.

Restaurants in Heredia can be found throughout the province and serve a wide range of foods and cuisines. Most of the restaurants are located in and around the well-known tourist destinations in the province and serve everything from burgers and pizzas to local Tico fares like casado, gallo pinto and tortillas. Italian and Chinese cuisine is also very popular here with many restaurants serving pastas and/or fried rice.

In Heredia city itself, there are a number of places to eat at, as the city is home to the National University. This means that there are a lot of cheap and expensive eateries in town as they cater to students who tend to live on a tight budget. There are a lot of restaurants, cafes and sodas near the university premises.

Outside of the city, a lot of restaurants are usually part of a hotel, cabina or inn and serve good quality food at affordable and reasonable prices. The menus in these restaurants offer a mixed bag of cuisines to cater to everyone taste buds. When eating at a soda in Heredia, do try out the local delicacies, as Tico food is very healthy and nutritious. Rice and beans is served with almost anything and plays a key role in a Ticos diet.
