Find a Local Restaurant in North Puntarenas

Pavones Beach
Filled with many tourist attractions, North Puntarenas is among the most popular areas to visit in Costa Rica. Easy to reach from San Jose, you can visit the popular Parque Nacional Manuel Antonio here as well as the beautiful Monteverde and Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserves. On the Nicoya Peninsula, you will find the surf hotspots of Mal Pais and Santa Theresa, while along the Central Pacific Coast, Jaco, Playa Hermosa and Dominical are known for their awesome surf.

There are plenty of restaurants in North Puntarenas up and down the province. In the north, in the Monteverde area, you have plenty of eateries present. A lot of the restaurants tend to be part of a hotel, however, there are numerous independent restaurants as well, which serve everything from pizza and burgers to the local delicacies, seafood and ceviches.

In Mal Pais and Santa Theresa, there are many restaurants as well. Franks’ Place is one of the most popular places to eat in the area. While a lot of the eateries here are part of a resort or hotel, there are some great sodas and local cafes that you should try out for a tasty yet inexpensive meal.

Along the Central Pacific Coast, restaurants can be found almost anywhere along Highway 34. You will find both expensive and affordable places to eat at every turn. There are plenty of good restaurants in Puntarenas, Jaco, Manuel Antonio, Quepos and Playa Herradura. A wonderful alternative for eating local cuisine is at a soda or a food stall, which prepares delicious yummy meals in a few quick minutes for just a few pesos.

The seafood is extremely good in North Puntarenas, especially along the coastal areas. This is because the fish, crabs and lobsters are freshly caught by the local fishermen, who in turn immediately sell them to the eateries along the shore. From Chinese food to Italian, Japanese and Asian cuisine, you can find nearly every kind of restaurant in North Puntarenas.
