Spread over 11,277 sq km, the sprawling province of Puntarenas lies to the west of Costa Rica. This largest of Costa Rica’s provinces stretches along the country’s Central Pacific region. From golden beaches to mangrove swamps, and from cloud forest to tropical dry forest, this expansive province contains a little bit of everything that this tiny Latin country has to offer.

Containing practically all the varied climates of Costa Rica, Puntarenas caters to occasional rains and high humidity that keeps the forested portions of the province green throughout the year.
