Find a Golf Resort in Cartago

Just a short drive from San Jose is the former capital of Costa Rica, Cartago. Also the name of the province, Cartago sits at a half an hour drive away east of San Jose and is one of the most historical cities in the country. Nearly destroyed by the eruption of the Volcano Irazu in 1723, Cartago also was the first Spanish settlement in Costa Rica. With easy access to the capital, Cartago is a wonderful place to stay in and offers plenty of activities to enjoy.

A tranquil laidback region of Costa Rica, Cartago has many lovely botanical gardens to visit, serene mountain towns where you can relax as well as the active Volcano Irazu to discover. You can also enjoy some great whitewater rafting in this part of the country with the famous Rio Reventazón running through the lush and gorgeous Orosí Valley. The Orosi Valley is considered by many as one of the most stunning regions to live in with breathtaking views all around you.

Currently there are no golf resorts in Cartago, but with easy access to the capital San Jose, you can take advantage of golfing in the city. There are a number of golf courses in and around San Jose and with Cartago just 30 minutes away, you can golf to your heart’s content and then come home to relax amid some of the most picturesque surroundings.

From 18-hole championship golf courses to mini golf and 9-hole golf courses, you can find a number of golf resorts in San Jose that allow outsiders to come and play a round of golf. But do keep in mind you will be charged slightly more than a member for your game.

Cartago also has the advantage of being close to Heredia, where you can enjoy some of the best golf at the Herradura Hotel Golf Resort and Country Club. This golf resort offers some of the finest golfing facilities in Costa Rica.
