Located in the gorgeous Central Valley or Meseta Central, the tiny province of San Jose is a tourist’s delight. The weather here is absolutely superb, and the land is rich, fertile and green. Sitting centrally within the country, San Jose is the commercial and tourist hub of Costa Rica. From here all direct access points to the rest of the country start, making it one of the most visited regions. San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica is also found here as well.
San Jose City itself is pretty impressive. A modern and cosmopolitan metropolis, San Jose today is home to over a million Costa Ricans and this number is rapidly going up. Here you can find anything you want with plenty of shopping centers, bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, museums and colorful markets found all over the place. The night life here is very lively and exciting as well, with lots to do and see.
If you’re looking for accommodations in San Jose then you need not worry as this city has hotels and resorts to suit every pocket and budget. Whether you require a small one room motel or a boutique suite, San Jose has it all. Depending on the kind of vacation you wish to have, you can stay either in downtown San Jose or if you prefer a more quiet getaway, then the affluent districts of Escazu & Santa Ana are great places to escape the traffic and noise. You can find a number of cheap hotels near the Coca Cola bus terminal, which are ideal if you are in the city for just a day.
Finding accommodations in downtown San Jose is not usually a problem as there are plenty of hotels to be found here. This area is ideal if you want to explore the rest of the city as it provides convenient access to museums, restaurants, and shopping centers. If this part of San Jose gets too noisy for you then stay in Barrio Amón or Los Yoses, which are close enough to the downtown area but far away enough to ensure a good night’s sleep. With San Jose’s central location, many tourists often use this city as a base camp to explore the rest of Costa Rica. If you are traveling here during high season it is highly advisable to book your room in advance. From December through to April and two weeks before Christmas and Easter, tourist season is at its peak in San Jose.
