Canopy Tour Adrenaline
A real adrenaline rush, canopy tours are the best way to explore a forest without physically harming it in any way. With some truly breathtaking sights, these tours are not for the fainted hearted, but they are well worth it as you get a unique view of the forest below. Ideal for those who enjoy adventure, a canopy tour gives you a bird’s eye view of your surroundings.

A great way to go bird watching or wildlife watching, canopy tours let you see many rare animals in their native habitats, roaming free and without any fear. A wonderful way of combining tourism with the preservation of forests, these tours let you see the very best that nature has to offer.

In a canopy tour you are usually strapped into a harness and hooked onto a series of zip lines that let you travel from tree to tree. The trees are fitted with platforms some 40m to 60m up, and offer some incredible views of the adjoining areas.

In the province of South Puntarenas, there is much to explore. One of the most pristine regions in the country, this part of the province is home to the Osa Peninsula, regarded by many as one of the most geographically diverse places on earth. Lush and beautiful, the landscape here is wild and rugged and is perfect for those who want a more secluded vacation amidst nature.

There are not many canopy tours on South Puntarenas as this part of the country is very remote. One of the main canopy tours is in the Drake Bay area close to the Corcovado National Park. A series of zip lines and platforms, a canopy tour of this area is fantastic with some truly special vistas. Another canopy tour is located near Cabo Matapalo and offers some superb views of the Corcovado, home to one of the last remaining stretches of Pacific Coastal rainforests in Central America.

When looking for a canopy tour operator, always look around for a company that is accredited and has a good safety record. Make sure you follow the instructions given properly; wear the hard hat and gloves provide by the operator; and check your harness so that it is securely in place. All this will ensure that you have a safe, fun and thrilling ride.
