Limon is the perfect place to kickback and relax, as well as have an adventure filled vacation. Here you can enjoy a plethora of outdoor activities—perfect for an adventure travel. Limon offers its visitors a wealth of activities to enjoy including bird/wildlife watching, sport fishing, whitewater rafting, surfing, diving, swimming and snorkeling. This province is also a melting pot of cultures Afro-Caribbean, Chinese and indigenous influences.

Tortuguero National Park

If you are in the mood for an adventure, visit the Tortuguero National Park and the Barra del Colorado in the north of the province. Aside from whitewater rafting you can enjoy some canoeing and kayaking in Limon. One of the best ways to explore the Parque Nacional Tortuguero and the Refugio Nacional Barra del Colorado is by canoe or kayak. Both these nature reserves have many meandering rivers and a number of natural lagoons, making travel by boat the best way to see these parks. Refugio Nacional Barra del Colorado is also excellent for sport fishing, both inland and off shore.

Surfing in Limon

If you are looking to have a good time and some fun in the sun, head south to the south of Limon. The premier destination for expert surfers, here you can find the famous Salsa Brava, considered by many to be one of the most dangerous waves on the planet. Puerto Viejo de Talamanca offers some excellent surf; For the avid angler the Barra del Colorado has endless sportfishing opportunities; While snorkelers and divers can enjoy stunning underwater beauty at Cahuita and Manzanillo—superb for scuba diving, swimming and snorkeling.

Zip Lines

If you are interested in doing a canopy tour in Limon, you can try the zip line canopy at the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge and see Costa Rica’s flora and fauna thriving in their natural habitat. Providing you with a thrilling adventure, here you literally fly high in the forest canopy to enjoy the wildlife below and around you. The Aerial Tram ride near the town of Guapiles is another option. It lets you take 40 minute trips in a tram as you explore this lush 1,000 acre private nature reserve—home to many beautiful species of birds and butterflies.

Enjoy Nature

There are no golf resorts in Limon at the moment, however, if you're searching for a quieter adventure you wouldn't be disappointed. There are spas in Limon, most of which are a part of hotels and resorts. In northern Limon, you will find a spa resort in Tortuguero, a national park which is known as Costa Rica’s Amazon—The Manatus Hotel. The El Encanto B&B in Cahuita, an asian inspired hotel, also offers spa facilities. In Puerto Viejo de Talamanca you can also find a spa in the Samasati Retreat Center.
