Often referred to as one of the most beautiful provinces in Costa Rica because of its lush natural beauty, Heredia is a wonderful province to explore. There are many non-profit organizations operating in Heredia on both large as well as small scales to protect this province and the many wonders it holds.

Two of the popular non-profit organization are this province are the Organizacion Gente de Tradicion and Tirimbina. The Organizacion Gente de Tradicion is situated in Santa Barbara de Heredia, while Tirimbina is located in Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui.

The Organizacion Gente de Tradicion is an outdoor club. It offers adventure trips and excursions to help people improve their personal growth and at the same time, work on their professional and corporate skills.

The Tirimbina Rainforest Center is a non-profit organization that is working to conserve tropical rainforests in Costa Rica. Managing the La Tirimbina Biological Reserve, this organization provides environmental education to the local community of Sarapiqui as well as to students and ecotourists. It also runs environmental programs and provides research opportunities for scientists in tropical ecology. The Tirimbina Rainforest Center also accepts donations, which is uses for its various projects.
