Car Rental Agencies in Guanacaste

Guanacaste is one of Costa Rica’s biggest provinces, and as a first-class travel destination it offers plenty of tourist attractions. The beaches here are stunning and the weather here is great, making it a wonderful escape whether you are alone or with your family. Getting Around Guanacaste

While this province is large and offers a lot for tourists, it doesn’t have the best public transportation options for visitors. Because of this, renting a car to get around Guanacaste is one of the best ways for anyone traveling in or through the area. Since the buses here are so few and far between, it makes it hard to stick to your own schedule; instead, you would have to adhere to the bus schedules. Luckily, renting a car in Guanacaste is easy.

Renting a Car to Travel Guanacaste

There are a number of car rental agencies in Guanacaste mainly because this province is home to Costa Rica’s second international airport. Situated in Liberia, the Daniel Oduber International Airport serves a number of global and key US carriers such as Delta, British Airways, American Airlines and KLM. Many car rental companies have their offices located in Liberia or at the airport so that tourists can easily pick up their rental car, or initiate a rental car agreement, on the spot.

There are also a few car rental companies that can be found in the Tamarindo area, as well as on Playa Flamingo, Playa Carrillo, Playa Nosara, and in the beautiful Papagayo Gulf. Negotiate with your car rental agency to get free delivery to your hotel if you aren’t picking up at the airport. Many car rental places will be happy to oblige with the request if you just ask. It’s very convenient to get the car delivered to you, so that you can pick it up and hit the road.

Renting a car in Costa Rica is no different than renting a car anywhere else; you want to make sure that you carefully read the terms of the agreement before you sign it. Ask any questions you have, and get the answers before you leave the lot. If you don’t understand a policy, ask for clarification. Thoroughly inspect the car upon delivery, and have a representative from the agency there to witness and sign off on any pre-existing damage that you report.

Traveling in Your Rental Car in Guanacaste

The roads in Guanacaste are in pretty good condition, except towards the southern end of the Nicoya Peninsula, where they tend to be just dirt tracks. A fabulous region to tour by car, renting a vehicle also means that you can avoid the more touristy beaches in favor of a more secluded retreat. If you are touring Guanacaste during the rainy season please be careful while driving here as the roads tend to get quite bad and potholes develop.

Renting as car is a great way to get around Guanacaste because there is much to see out here. If you like, you can take your rental car and head north to Santa Rosa Natl. Park, Rincon de la Vieja National Park and Guanacaste National Park, or simply just hang out on the many beaches found along the coast.
