I really enjoy my stay at Hotel Buenisimo. Every time I visit I experience something new. This year I wanted butterfly's. With the help of Hotel Buenisimo's staff (full time gardner, Uriel), he planted flowers (native to CR) and the butterfly's were all over the place. A complementary breakfast made by "Claudia" was superb! The hotel management made me feel like I was one of the family. I'll visit them again soon.

Since this is the Website where I first learned of Hotel Buenisimo and booked because of reading the other reviews, I wanted to leave my own... My boyfriend and I had the best time in Playa Carmen and at Hotel Buenisimo. Charlie, Denise and their small staff embody the "Pura Vida" that you hope to find anywhere you go. We felt like friends, when we left there & became friends with the others guests. We stayed both in their little room (where Carmen serves up the BEST breakfast in the common area) and up in the villa... amazing view & very comfortable lodging. I never wanted to leave our hillside retreat. We originally booked for 5 nights, and extended our stay for another 3 nights. Yippee!!! If Charlie gives you any advice on where to eat or what to do... take it!!! My only word of caution is that if you are unable or uninterested in walking a hillside trail (to the villas), then this may not be the place for you. Personally, We didn't rent a car & we were perfectly content with where we could walk around town. We will definitely be back!!!

I usually travel to Costa Rica at least twice a year by myself. I found Hotel Buenisimo to most accommodating and safest place to stay.
The ocean views are spectacular. Don't miss their breakfast, best in all of Costa Rica. The owners and staff always make me feel welcome. Was there in April 2011, planning another trip In October or November.

This was our first time to visit the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area and we were pleasantly surprised with Hotel Buenisimo. We really didn't know what to expect, before arriving we wondered if we would regret not staying somewhere right on the beach. We were so happy with our choice to stay at Hotel Buenisimo, especially once we started exploring the area. The casitas are clean, private, beautifully landscaped, breath taking ocean views, walking distance to the beach and the breakfast is unlike any other complimentary breakfast that I have ever received. The staff is extremely nice and very responsive to any requests that you have. Denise and Charlie, the owners of the Hotel, were extremely helpful with helping us decide what to do with our time in the area. They gave us some great tips of what to see and where to go which allowed us to have a wonderful vacation. They went out of their way to make sure everything was just right for us. Charlie was even nice enough to help us out the first day we were there when our rental car wasn't quite ready. He spent the afternoon helping us get our rental car and get to the bank. We travel quite a bit and there are very few places that I want to go back to, but Mal Pais/Santa Teresa is definitely an area we will be going back to and when we do we will stay at Hotel Buenisimo.

Another great visit to Playa Santa Teresa!

This was my girfriend's and I fourth trip to Santa Teresa and second with Hotel Buenisimo. All I can say is this place is by far the best deal in town. Not only are the hillside casitas beautiful and clean, but everyone there are so welcoming and nice. The owners are great people who truly go out of their way to make your vacation the best it can be. We stayed in the yellow casita with views and comfort that make the price per night worth every penny. Even more, you get a COMPLETE breakfast (no continental here) every moring at the restaurant located at the bottom of the hill. The restaurant, which doubles as the hotel's reception area, opens as a fabulous sushi restaurant with fresh fish and our new favorite drink "sakitini's". Thanks to the restaurants owner Katie for making some of the best sushi we've ever had. Simply, at the end of ten days we weren't ready to leave the peaceful life on the hill. The best vacation ever.

Our entire experience was fabulous! We had separate casitas for the adults and teenage children so that the older ones could rise early and drink coffee in our hammocks and the younger ones could stay up late and watch movies on their laptop. Then in between we were treated royally by Charlie and Denice. Breakfast was always delicious, Charlie was a patient surfing coach and tour guide, and the evening sunset visits with both Charlie and Denice were a fantastic way to end the day. Pura Vida at its finest!

Hotel Buenisimo is an amazing place! My girlfriend and I just stayed there and had the best time. Charlie and Denise (the owners) are very hospitable, always ready to offer a suggestion on things to do, places to go, etc. I cant say enough about Charlie and Denise, they helped make our 1st trip to Costa Rica our best vacation yet!

We rented one of the 1 story casitas for 5 days. The casitas are very clean and comfortable and are up in the hill overlooking Santa Teresa and the beach, so the sunsets are breathtaking. Since its up in the hill, its very quiet and you dont have the dust from the road during the dry season. Plus, all the wildlife around the casitas is very cool. We are city people, so it was quite an expierience seeing monkeys, iguanas and other crazy animals while reading or relaxing in the hammocks outside our casita. Hotel Buenisimo is centrally located so its a very short walk to the beach, a bunch of restaurants/cafes and even a super market.

The breakfast thats included every morning included some of the best rice and beans that we have ever tasted - and we live in Miami, where we can get rice and beans on almost every corner!!

As you can see, we highly recommened staying at Hotel Buenisimo and we will be back there in the future.

The people from Hotel Buenisimo were so nice and made this vacation one of the best time ever. I have the best memories of the yellow casita, the rancho sancho, the surf lesson and of course the memorable evenings!

If you're visiting this site contemplating whether you should stay at Hotel Buenisimo let me make that decision for you... DO IT! This was my first visit to Costa Rica and with every first visit you tend to do alot of research on your accomodation. After a suggestion from a best friend who had a life changing experience at Buenisimo I can now say I did as well.

One of the great owners Denise began this fantastic experience with about 12 pages of communication before we even arrived. With a great adventure driving to Mal Pais/Santa Teresa we were greeted by an always happy Charlie at the Rancho (part of Buenisimo). This is a hopping place in the high season and soon to be Sushi Bar by Nov 15 2008 - Be sure to check it out!

After a drive up a short hill in the jungle we we were welcomed to paradise with 3 private Casitas - 2 one floor teak casitas and an amazing 2 floor teak casita all with what I consider to be the best view in the area. Seriously! With cooking facilities, hot water (amazing bathrooms), hammocks, an outdoor shower and a view that you have to experience first hand we were in heaven.

The staff and owners treated us not guests but as family/friends. We stayed 8 nights here and when I return you know where I will be.

Rent your ATVs and boards through Buenisimo and be sure to take the jungle trail daily from your casita to the ocean. See howler monkeys, lizards, tucans, BEAUTIFUL gardens/jungle... JUST GO!

My fiance and I visited in Feb of this year. This was my second time, her first. I had been 10 years agos, while rica was still undeveloped so i looking to have her experience "old Rica". We stayed at Rancho for 3 nights. It could not have suited us better. Free "big" breakfasts in the am, right after an am surf session. So quiet, staff so friendly, food cooking all the time. We were there to surf....thats all we did, but the ocean out front was filled with tide pools, tortugas (turtles), howler monkeys, etc. Small store up the street for essentials...everything you need. I wont go anywhere else when I go back. Thanks Mikey, Charlie, Denise.........pura vida

This hotel is off the beaten path and snuggled in the hillside just above playa Santa Teresa, about a 5 minute walk to the sand. The casitas were beautiful with awesome ocean views well worth the $85 a night rate, each house included a huge shower, queen size bed, fold out couch, kitchenette and two hammocks on the porch. The food at the restaurant was very good, a full breakfast was included for both my girlfriend and I with every night paid for. We met a bunch of cool people hanging out in the hotel restaurant. The owners are really kind and friendly people, they helped us find really fun things to do. The surf instructors were very friendly and actually were able to teach us how to surf, not just get pounded by the waves. I definitely will be back, and just hope this spot stays somewhat secret,,,, a true diamond in the rough!!! 4 STARS!!
