Waterfalls Canopy Tour

Waterfall Canopy Tours offer you spectacular eco-adventure tours that provide a unique experience in the canopy of the tropical rainforest.

While zipping over cables as high as 120 feet over ground level, we offer you a bird's eye view of the rainforest canopy, which is home to an estimated 60% of rainforest species! Waterfalls Canopy Tour is located just outside Jaco and near the Carara Biological Reserve and is part of an important ecological transition zone between Costa Rica's drier northwest and more humid south. This transitional rainforest grows on steep slopes, and has studded massive trees laden with vines, bromeliads and orchids.

The gear used is top quality climbing harnesses and equipment, made and certified by reputable, well-established manufacturers. In fact we have the best safety record in the industry! Also our company has successfully passed the safety regulations of the Association for Challenge Course Technology, ACCT, in the USA .

Apart from the Canopy Tour, which consists of 13 platforms , 7 ziplines, Tarzan Swing, a 3 story Tree house, suspension bridges and a 90 foot rappel, we also offer additional adventure tours like the Jungle Adventure Challenge, spectacular night Canopy Tours, 1 day tour from San Jose, ecological tours like the Butterfly & Frog Garden and Nature Walk and we even offer special events.

Eco-tourism, including adventure tours, is the country's most important industry. Many foreign visitors rate canopy tours as one of the highlights of their vacation package, ideal for families, groups, incentive activities and companies. We are also the perfect destination for those interested in some fun team building.

Our location is easy to travel to since we are close to San Jose (1¾ hours), and only 10 minutes from Jaco Beach, 25 minutes from Punta Leona, 60 minutes from Puntarenas and the port of Caldera (in this port cruise ships stop) and 1½ hour Manuel Antonio Beach. In fact we regularly pick up passengers from all of these locations on one of our tours.

Tours

Canopy Tour
Much of the Canopy's 46 hectares of protected area is covered with transitional rainforest growing on steep slopes, and studded massive trees laden with vines and epiphytes. Our Canopy Tour consists of 13 platforms, 7 cables of different sizes, 3 storey Tree House, Tarzan Swing, a suspension bridge and a 90 feet rappel at the end.

The tour starts with putting on your harness, these are professional mountain climbing harnesses. Then we do a short walk in, and we will explain you about the area you are in, and the flora and fauna you will encounter on the trails.

We take to the trees near the waterfalls, here you find the first platform with a short slide. From there you will glide with the help of professional climbing gear on a pulley to the first tree (an enormous Ceiba tree with a diameter of 30 feet!).

At all times you are under the constant care of our guides! You will be taking cables from treetop to treetop in this jungle until you get to the Tree house; Jane and Tarzan's place! This is the highest point of the Canopy Tour, you'll be 100 feet over ground level… Here you can hang out for a while to enjoy the scenery. More cables will follow until you reach a suspension bridge and the Tarzan Swing! Let's do a yelling contest!

The Tarzan Swing is followed by our longest cable for the truly adventurous (optional cable)! At the end we will rappel you down (belay, this is a professional lowering technique) to the forest floor.

Jungle Adventure Challenge

If you have heard of challenge courses and team building, you are on the right track. These Challenges are a lot of FUN and EXCITING and will challenge you personally as well as your team! Together you will overcome a lot of different obstacles and as you solve jungle problems. This course is great for anybody 8 years or older and in reasonable physical condition.

The main theme of this adventure is to work together to survive in the jungle. This is not just a normal jungle, this is a magical jungle which is full with sleeping giants. Without waking them up, we must cross crocodile gulch, and climb the snake tree to rescue a golden monkey. You have to transport your entire team across quicksand swamp, and do the log walk at waterfalls pass. Finally we must take to the trees to avoid any of the giants you may have disturbed.

THE COURSE - The whole Adventure Challenge consists of 2 identical courses! As you go along you can see the other teams you are competing with taking the same challenges. The equipment we have put on you will help you overcome these obstacles. I will explain what equipment you need to use and how to use it as we go through the tour. Every team will have a guide assigned to them.

HOW IT IS SCORED - You are scored both individually and as a team. There are 5 challenges to do in total, and each team is timed on every one. At the end of the tour, we will figure out which team won the Jungle Adventure Challenge and who is the individual winner in each team!!!

Nature Walk
On this guided Nature Walk we will be explaining about the different areas we pass through and the flora and fauna we encounter. Let me tell you a bit about the area in general. We are at only 10 km from the Carara Biological Reserve which is part of an important ecological transition zone between Costa Rica's drier northwest and more humid south.

Much of our 46 hectares of protected area is covered with transitional rainforest growing on steep slopes, and studded massive trees laden with vines and epiphytes.

If we get lucky we will have seen toucans and perhaps even the scarlet macaw. Also we may encounter the white-faced capuchin monkeys, they are around when there are fruits near the tour.

- Duration of the Tours are from 30 mintues to 2 hours.
- Tours include: guides, equipment, insect repellent and bottled water
