Set in the beautiful Orosi Valley, the Hotel Rio Perlas Spa & Resort is the only mountain and spa destination in the area. You'll be surrounded by tropical gardens and the cloud forest at the stunning property with 65 rooms. It's a unique place for tranquility, privacy and nature, about 35km from San José.

Rio Perlas Resort & Spa is a 5-star hotel, with two large swimming pools, two restaurants, a full-service spa and bar. One of the swimming pools is a thermal pool, with a waterfall flowing into the pool which contains the healing waters of the nearby Irazú Volcano. The second pool is a cold-water pool with a Jacuzzi. A children's pool is also on site. Poolside bars and snack counters add to the experience.

The hotel contains a replica of the famous Orosi Church, available to guests for on-site weddings and other celebrations, meditation, prayer and serenity. The convention center is a great place to hold a reception or other party, as it can hold up to 150 guests.

The spa at Rio Perlas includes indoor and outdoor treatment rooms. A variety of treatments is available on-site, including a Swedish dry sauna, a hot tub, a steam room and Turkish bath. Therapies available include, stone massages, facials, mud wraps, therapeutic water massages and much more.

At the hotel, you can enjoy a hiking tour on-site. The hotel has many trails, most of which take 1 to 3 hours to hike. With two life zones and elevation from 4,000 to 8,000 feet, it's a habitat for over 45 species of mammals, over 400 species of birds and at least 28 species of reptiles and amphibians. The rivers feature even more wildlife, and some special visitors have even spotted the thysania agripina, the largest known butterfly on the American continent.

The Hotel Rio Perlas Spa & Resort offers a wide variety of packages and rooms which allow you to fit your vacation into your budget. The non-refundable package gives you a 10 percent discount on the standard rate. Both packages include breakfast.

The basic package includes breakfast and dinner. The premium package includes lunch to the basic package. A luxury package has breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as a spa treatment with a Turkish bath/sauna, face relaxation and massage with heated stones. With each package, dinner includes two glasses of house wine or beer, two soft drinks or squeezed juices and one dessert of your choice.

Rooms come with all the luxurious amenities you would expect, wireless internet, a phone, daily housekeeping, clean towels and linens, mini-bar refrigerator, safe, hair dryer, TV and toiletries.

Standard Room - Although the standard room is the most affordable option, it features sophisticated elegance, a panoramic sunrise view and stunning views of the mountain and rain forest jungle.

Master Suite - Sit on the terrace for a breathtaking colorful sunset in this two-room suite with room for four adults.

Wood Cabins - These wood cabins are located high in nature with stunning views of the river and mountain. You'll hear the birds throughout the day in the rain forest. Each cabin has two queen beds, an inside sitting area and wooden porch.

River Sound Suites - Junior suites feature a king size bed and two queen size beds in a light and airy environment. High ceilings and tall windows let you enjoy the landscape, whether you want to see the mountain, river or jungle. You'll enjoy a terrace and living area, as well as all the amenities of the hotel.

Presidential Suite - Decorated in a wooden, chocolate-brown color scheme, this luxurious suite overlooks the Rio Perlas River and the thermal swimming pools of the hotel. It offers two bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with a queen, two walk-in showers, two toiletries and a living room with a large dinning table and sitting area.

Hot Springs - Make a day trip to Pura Pora, one of the most famous historic hot springs known for its healing powers.

Tapanti National Park and Irazú Volcano - Spend the day zip lining, rafting, rappelling and horseback riding at this massive collection of nature parks.

Biking – Rent speed bikes and mountain bikes for a day of adventure.

Costa Rican Culture Tours - Take a tour of a coffee plantation or one of the local historic landmarks. The coffee in the Orosi Valley is said to be some of the best in world. The Ruins of Ujarras are just 15km from Orosi, is the site of Costa Rica's oldest church, built in 1693. Although not in use any longer, visitors will find local cuisine and souvenirs.

Fishing – Spend a day trout fishing, one of the most popular activities at the resort.

Bird-watching - The hotel has several bird-watching trails that aren't as strenuous as the hiking trails.
