You can enjoy nature from the terrace or, with the Piedras Blancas National Park as our backyard you can explore in depth the secondary and primary rainforest. From towering trees to minuscule orchids you will be amazed by the diversity of life in the rain forest. Inclusive in your stay is a complimentary tour of the property that includes descriptions of various plants, trees, insects and animals native to the area and examples of symbiotic relationships that are so important to the continuence of the rainforest.

Sustainable Tourism

Saladero Eco Lodge is an environmentally sensitive 480 acre private preserve set in the undeveloped Golfo Dulce and Piedras Blancas National Park. It includes ½ mile of coastline on the Golfo Dulce and 450 acres of primary rainforest and 30 acres of tropical gardens. Established in harmony with the natural environment, our goal is to provide to travelers seeking a unique location and experience, the opportunity to observe wildlife and natural wonders in a pristine and sustainable fashion while enjoying the comfortable and spacious accommodations.

As responsible stewards we are obliged to take nothing from the ecosystem that surrounds us excepting photographs and memories.
With this in mind we have implemented certain policies and standards to ensure its continuance with minimal or no impact to the environment.

The Beach

The accommodations consist of three different lodging options as well as camping.

Beach House
Just steps from the beach and at the center of all activity, the two-story beach house is constructed from beautiful exotic hardwoods and offers unobstructed 360° views of the property and gulf. The main house will accommodate up to 6 adults with 1 king bed and 2 queen beds.

The second story offers totally screened in open-air lounging with a private bedroom and bath, a huge open living area with additional sleeping room for guests and a guest bath. The living room area with sofa, tables and chairs overlooks the ocean, flora and fauna below. The private outdoor hot water shower lies among the botanicals and under the blue sky or evening stars. The totally solar powered electrical system provides all lighting, ceiling fans and refrigeration. Drinking water is UV treated and safe to drink.

The main kitchen is located on the ground level of the beach house. Three meals are served daily with natural juices, most of which are grown on the property. Enjoy open air ocean breezes and serene views of the gulf and garden. The adjacent covered Pizza Oven and BBQ pit is perfect for an evening get-together.




Tree House
Eighty-eight steps lead to this private and intimate treetop cabin in the canopy overlooking the gulf. The cabin is totally screened, equipped with full bath, hot water shower, reading chairs, balcony and beautiful hardwood floors. Lighting is battery powered.

The tree house offers visitors the opportunity to observe activity while perched in native jungle canopy. Howler monkeys, toucans, and parrots are just a few of the animals you may spot while sipping your morning tea or coffee on the private balcony.

This cabin is perfect for those seeking tranquility and harmony with nature. It is fully screened and sleeps 4 comfortably with one queen bed and one bunk bed.

Mariposa cabin
Our newest cabin. The Mariposa cabin offers sleeping for 4 with one queen beds and 1 bunk bed. Perfect for familys on a budget. Totally screened with battery lighting. Located halfway between the beach and the rainforest in our gardens with a view of the Golfo Dulce. Bathrooms are located 150' away with an outdoor hot water shower.

Tents
The Finca Saladero offers 30 acres of maintained garden area for those who seek a true tropical camping adventure. Plenty of room for budget travelers or spirited naturalists alike. The camping area has an outdoor shower for rinsing off, a thatch rancho, a brand new bathroom and outdoor shower.
