The Castillo de Pavones is a brand new hotel, elegantly perched on a mountainside with a direct view of the famous Pavones point break, and the surfers riding the longest left wave in the world. From the windows and balconies, you can look down on the canopy which slopes to form the Rio Claro River and valley, and witness the birds soaring below over the canopy treetop.

Imagine awakening in a beautiful garden, to the surrounding sight andsounds of monkeys, toucans, and scarlet macaws. Wander out your glassdoor to your private balcony and have your morning Costa Rican coffeewith our resident mama sloth and her new baby, who stare at you while hanging upside-down from a nearby tree. Every sunrise at the Castillo de Pavones brings you a new awakening of orange treetop landscape, and its inhabiting exotic creatures.


Castillo de Pavones is a jungle castle with 5-star amenities. They offer massive 750 sq. ft. suites, all of which have spectacular ocean views. Here, you can enjoy fantastic ocean views fro your 2-person jacuzzi tub and king size orthopedic bed. Enjoy our glass-enclosed restaurant and lounge, offering world cuisine restaurant/room service. At night, bask in the imported fine linens while watching the satellite TVs.

A five-minute walk down the hill brings you to the ocean, river, and directly in front of the beginning of the famous point break wave. A ten-minute walk brings you to the center of town. The hotel can book your boat trip to Matapalo for surfing, fishing, snorkeling or scuba diving. Horseback riding, private guided hikes and canopy tours can also be arranged through the Castillo. We are also happy to book your organic spa treatments at the nearby salon.
