Delightful El Cafetal Inn is just 20 minutes from the airport in Costa Rica. The spectacular two - story house with rounded, glass corner alcoves overlooks the Colorado River Valley and fields of coffee and sugarcane, with views of the cities of Alajuela and part of Heredia, as well as three volcanoes: Poás, Barva, and Irazú.

We arrived very late because our plane was late and we had to get a rental car. By the time we got to the El Cafetal, Mr. A told us that the guy who was supposed to take us to the house we rented had left. So we had to stay at one of their tiny bedrooms (there were 3 of us)the sheets didn't smell clean. The next day, we had to wait a long time for someone to come and take us to the house where we were supposed to stay at. When we got to the house, we discovered there was no hot water. The house was very beautiful and clean but no hot water to bathe in. So we moved into the El Cafetal Inn for the rest of our vacation, they placed us in a nicer room, but still small, and there was a major leak in the living area. Otherwise I think it is a beautiful place, it's just not maintained properly.
