The Alta Hotel is a five star hotel is a nestled in the mountains in the western part of the San Jose. This colonial hotel has 23 beautifully appointed rooms where all have views of San Jose and the mountains and volcanoes beyond. The location is perfect the hotel is situated on the old road along the hills of Alto de las Palmas on the boarder of Escazu and Santa Ana. The Alta Hotel is the perfect place to begin or end your vacation in style or if you are business traveler is one of the best hotels in San Jose area as it is close to the city as well as having all the amenities any business traveler would need. All the rooms are grand suites that are decorated with black & white photos of the Costa Rica’s rich coffee past dating to the 1920’s. There are three types of rooms at the Alta Hotel Deluxe Rooms have two queen or one king size bed, private balcony and gardens as well as 400 plus count Indian Cotton sheets the Master Suite that has one king sized bed with a private balcony and a steam bath shower and finally the Grand Suite is a two room suite that also offers private balcony and gardens along with the 400 plus count Indian Cotton sheets.

Attached to the Alta Hotel is the restaurant La Luz and it has been called “one of the best restaurants in Central America” by Conde Nast Traveler.

We stumbled upon the Alta Hotel while on our second vacation to Costa Rica and I wish we would have found it earlier. The hotel is simply beautiful! It does not feel like you are staying in the San Jose area. I highly recommend this hotel to any traveler coming in or out of San Jose.
 
Alta Hotel is located approximately five miles west of the Capital city of San Jose in the upscale Escazu.
