A private boat takes you to the shores of Playa Cativo Lodge, a luxurious eco-lodge destination that expertly engages with the surrounding ocean and rainforest landscape of southern Costa Rica. During your visit, awaken to an ocean view, hike through diverse ecosystems and experience wellness treatments in the gardens.

Overview

Ocean and tropical rainforest breezes refresh and rejuvenate those who experience the luxury of southern Costa Rica that awaits at the Playa Cativo Lodge. Located on the Osa Penísula, on the coasts of Golfo Dulce, this beachfront eco-lodge offers a relaxation experience for mind and body and a chance to engage with the remarkable beauty of the surrounding area.

The Lodge is surrounded by 1,000 private acres of the Playa Cativo Nature Reserve and Cativo Beach. It is only possible to access the Lodge with a private boat ride, organized by the staff. The Lodge is a 100% clean energy experience, drawing energy for nearly 30 years from off the grid hydroelectric and solar panels that guests can visit if they so choose.

A visit to Cayetano’s Organic Farm during the free Introduction to the Rainforest tour allows guests a chance to see the source of the organic fruits and vegetables that will be on the table later that day. The El Gavilán Restaurant offers an open air, fine dining experience while the El Gazebo Bar is the place to be as the sun sets over the ocean.

Wellness and nature can be found in the same heart of the tropical rainforest. The Lotus Spa offers couples and single massage therapy rooms, in addition to a plunge pool, lounge area and spaces for yoga that overlook the rainforest and tropical gardens.

You can discover the tropical rainforest of Piedras Blancas National Park through tours or self-guided hikes. In the Park, visit ancient old growth forests and listen for one of the 367 bird species, 140 mammals and numerous other reptiles and insects that call it home.

Supplement rainforest adventures by taking advantage of water activities on the Golfo Dulce. Explore one of the few tropical fjords of the world. Visitors can borrow kayaks and paddleboards and get an underwater view of the area either self-guided snorkeling or joining a snorkeling expedition.
