An award-winning establishment, Hotel La Mariposa sits atop the highest point in Manuel Antonio and offers 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean, the Manuel Antonio National Park and the city of Quepos. Tropical gardens and a contemporary Spanish-Mediterranean design simply add to the beauty. The first boutique-style hotel in the area, this hotel provides nearly anything you can imagine.
Start at Le Papillon Restaurant. The open-air design allows visitors to gaze at the ocean's blue waters and enjoy gorgeous sunsets as they dine on cuisine prepared by an internationally recognized chef. The menu offers a variety of traditional Costa Rican fare, Costa Rican seafood and some popular international dishes, including a range of pasta and vegetarian options. Whether you dine on local seafood or tropical fruit, be sure to wash it down with one of the many wines and champagnes available. If you are in the mood for something more casual, stop by the hotel's open-air bar instead. You can still watch the sunset as you sip on the bar's famous Guaro Sour or Mojito. This is the perfect place to relax with a drink and get to know other hotel guests.
Many other amenities are also available. Guests can relax in one of the hotel's four outdoor pools, two of which include bars, or they can sip coffee and tea in the common area. Hotel La Mariposa is truly family-friendly and provides a variety of child-friendly services and amenities. Take the kids to enjoy a day at the children's pool, or if you are interested in a little quality time, babysitting is available and includes supervised activities so that the kids have fun, too.
Guests can begin checking into their room at 3:00 p.m. and checkout is at noon. The front desk is open until 11:00 p.m. Guests who wish to check in after that time will need to make advance plans. Airport shuttle service is available during limited hours and upon request only. Shuttles are also available to the beaches, cruises and ferries. Hotel La Mariposa does not permit pets or service animals. Guests must be at least 18 years old to check in.

Hotel La Mariposa features 65 rooms that range from standard hotel rooms to entire apartments. Each one has been fully renovated and features full-service amenities. Rated four stars, the hotel is perfect whether you are traveling for business or pleasure. Some rooms are handicap-accessible.
Premier Ocean View - Serving up to three guests, this room is contemporary and spacious and offers gorgeous panoramic views of the beaches below. Some units include a kitchenette for an additional price.
Standard Ocean View - Featuring two large double beds, a private balcony and gorgeous ocean views, these rooms are spacious, comfortable and convenient. They accommodate up to four people.
Standard Partial Ocean View - With room for as many as three people, this room is perfect for small families. These rooms provide the perfect spot to relax on the private balcony.
Standard - The most affordable option, standard rooms serve up to four guests and feature two double beds. A shared deck is available for relaxation and socializing.
Honeymoon Suite - Spanning an entire top floor, this suite includes a king bed, large living area and walk-in closet. An oversized terrace and private Jacuzzi are perfect for taking in the view.
Double Connecting - Serving as many as six guests, these rooms offer two extra-large beds and two futons. Separate bedrooms and gorgeous views make these rooms perfect for groups of friends.
2-Bedroom Apartment - These fully furnished apartments are an excellent choice for families. They include all appliances and garden views. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and a private terrace.
3-Bedroom Apartment - Suitable for as many as six guests, the three-bedroom apartments are situated on the upper level and include private balconies. Contemporarily decorated, these apartments offer full kitchens, living areas and separate bathrooms for each bedroom.
All rooms include a wide variety of amenities, including in-room safes, plasma televisions, mini-refrigerators, room service and air conditioning.
White Water Rafting - The perfect combination of adventure and nature, whitewater rafting is available as a full- or half-day activity. Stop by the grand waterfall and see how many river otters you can spot along the way. Roundtrip transportation, equipment, snacks and lunch are included.
Mangrove Boat Tour - Visit Damas Island on this family-friendly boat tour. Relax and take in the area's nature, including sloths, iguanas and a range of marine life as you dine on seafood, beef or chicken during this tour. Vegetarian and vegan options are available.

"I love this hotel! When visiting Costa Rica I almost always head over to the west coast and stay at the La Mariposa. Last year took my teenage daughter and a friend of hers and spent 10 days there. I spent most of my time in the bar pool while Jorge made me drink after drink. Service was great, food was delicious and the liquor fantastic. However had my camera go missing not by the staff but by a fellow lousy American guest."

"I spent four nights in feb 06 with two friends in one of the villas at Hotel La Mariposa on the side of the mountain. The matresses were a little warn but the views made up for it. The staff were personable and courteous, willing and able to indulge our every demand. The breakfast buffet included a delightful mix of North American and Central American cuisines. The fresh fruit was probably the frestest and most delicious i've ever had. The sunset views from the swim up bar are unprecedented and Jorge makes the best bloody mary. It was very safe -- in fact they wouldn't let a local we'd befriended onto the premises after dark. (not sure how i feel about that -- seemed a little classist.) but when we had a flat tire, the guy who stands at the entrance to the parking lot rolled up his sleeves, got down on his knees, and fixed it. Oh, and Gerald is the best concierge ever!"
