Alamo Car Rental - San Jose Intl Airport

"First of all we loved Costa Rica and had a great time. Here is the email sent to Alamo SJO

Dear Alamo,
This is a complaint. My wife and I waited 20-30 minutes while 4 agents took care of 1 reservation for multiple vehicles. We waited patiently. We were excited to get started to La Fortuna. The 4 agents were laughing and talking to the men waiting for the vehicles while one agent punched in the details. Three times I was told it will be just a minute. My wife and I did not feel comfortable or safe at the time. I went with a price quoted with insurance of $435 but was told I had to take the full protection to get a car $685. When I protested I was told that was my only option if I wanted a car. The agent was even upset I brought my own GPS and explained it might not work as well as the ones they had. It worked great. He then asked if I really knew how to drive a stick, I have to say I was insulted the way he asked. He proceeded to tell us that we had to be careful of people giving us a flat to rob us. I stopped him twice and said I knew. I had read about that before hand but my wife didn't need the extra concern. I think we received the worst car in the fleet. I was told that is what I had rented and was available. We should have gone back to the airport at that point but I did not want to give my wife any further stress. As soon as I got to the first gas station we stopped looked at the tires as they felt wrong. They were all under inflated. The front right was 22 Lbs. I am so glad I stopped it was worth the $2 tip to the attendant at the gas station. Do the flats come from an Alamo insider? I have to say this SUV was in bad shape but they noted it on the sheet. I had to stop 5 times at gas stations because the windshield washer did not work. I even used our bottle water once. The back seat was locked in a 3/4 way down position. Just not what I saw everyone else driving while we were down there. The person who checked us out was great and listened to my complaints about the car. He even tried the windshield washer and it did not work. Surprised? Such a great beautiful country and we never felt threatened except at the Alamo pick up.
