Still wondering what happened to the orientation group the first day, first there was no one, so the guide was going to look for some people, then they left without me...that sort of set the tone for the week.

School was probably a C+. Placement into appropriate class was done well. And material was good. My class size was 5. However the teacher would allow conversations about costa rica to run for an hour or two on several different days. It was a little interesting but I'd preferred to be learning spanish through exercises or games as opposed to hearing the other students butcher it up endlessly.

I would also be cautious about going when they have big university groups or just lots of students from wherever they may come.

I felt it was difficult to try to coordinate things with such a big university group overwhelming the reception area. The reception people and excursion people where generally very helpful and kind and tried very hard but there was an awful lot of students the week I stayed in Heredia. But the homestay and the excursions I did were wonderful. I'd just probably opt for a smaller school next time. thanks and good luck.

I have been at Intercultura for 2 weeks and everyone there has been extremely friendly and helpful. All the instructors are required to have a degree in language instruction and they are wonderful. No class is larger than 6 students and usually they have less. Materials are included in the cost along with cooking classes, dance classes, and movie nights. Optional weekend excursions are guided and lots of fun.
