I had a flight booked to Roatan from San Jose leaving at 6:30 am. I arrived at the airport at 5:15 and was told that the flight was closed and my seat was gone because I needed to be at the airport 3 Hours before the flight. That would have been at 3:30AM . It was the only TACA flight leaving and I watched all the other passengers breeze through. I could only suspect that they had overbooked and didn't have a seat for me. They booked me on the next flight the next morning and gave me a voucher for the holiday inn and free meals. They also gave me my boarding pass for the next day and told me I didn't need to come at 3:30 but could come at 5:15AM but I still needed to check in my luggage.. Why? I could not figure out their little game. The holiday inn was great with a very nice room and great service. I also had free internet and could make calls back to Canada at no charge.

My wife and I were visiting Costa Rica and we missed our return flight by minutes due to an emergency along with some traffic delay. I am a businessman who has traveled quite a bit over the years and I must say that we were very satisfied with every aspect of our TACA airlines experience. We were extremely impressed with the counter services provided by Maricruz Acuña and Marcia Castillo. They were so understanding, comforting and professional during this time of stress for Katty and I. We felt more like family to TACA than just some customer who might have otherwise been turned away. Once again we want to say thank you and give praise to TACA for the experience we had under the circumstances. We will be sharing this wonderful experience with others in the future.
Sincerely Nick and Katty

I strongly don’t recommend any kind of experience with TACA !!!!My wife and I travelled in June, from Sao Paulo (Brazil) to San Jose (Costa Rica), with a stop in Lima (Peru). Many problems occurred, some of them, very serious. First of all, when the passenger have the e-ticket on hand with everything is reserved and confirmed, everything changes when you arrive at the airport, as none of that information are valid anymore, because you have to do the check-in on the net (we’ve tried 3 or 4 times in the night before, but the system was out-of-service), and then again, the check-in at the airport (passengers should do only one, I think) and believe, they don’t care if you and your wife will have to travel in different rows. Second of all, in the return flight, we lost the flight from Lima (Peru) to Sao Paulo (Brazil). The flight was overbooked, with 6 people without seats, but they just discovered it when people were getting on board. My wife, myself and another guy, waited for the calls in a different floor, to avoid the crowded area of TACA flights, but they never made any call for the flight in the audio system, and there was no change in the video system. When we went to see what was going on, the flight was gone, and firstly the strategy of the TACA staff, was to say we were lying and they’ve called us 3 or 4 times (in the next day, one person from the staff confirmed that the system was not working and they never called the late ones). After half-hour discussing, they changed, and said probably, the airport system was not working well, and told that the airport authority was guilt. They said they wouldn’t pay anything and they couldn’t put us in the next day flight. They just said was not their problem and they were not guilt. On the radio, they talked themselves, treating us as we were liars and stupid. We asked to see the Operations Manager and he came with more 4 or 5 guys. As we talked with him, one of the guys, called Mr. Diego Ante interrupted the chat, went close to my wife’s face and said with an angry face and hands closed that she was making him mad. We were very scared, because it was clear the message he could beat my wife. Then they just walked away, laughing, with violent guy making joking about us. We’ve called the police and also went to the police station, inside the airport, but we simply couldn’t find anyone to give us support. We had to spent around US$ 450,00 in hotels, penalties fees, food and clothes (as they just returned our bags in the next day), to fly in the next day. This is just part of the history. I will not describe all the details, but the final message is, if you want have nice and peaceful vacations do not fly TACA. Don’t think you can save some money flying TACA, because sometimes this can be much more expensive than you think. And, the most important, remember they are ready to threat you or your wife physically, if you complain and discuss about your rights. Get a flight from a different company !!!!At least, try to avoid stop in Lima (Peru), specially because of the rude staff there.Anyway, I have to recognize the aircrafts are very new and quite clean (in 2 of the flights, I found rubbish from the last flight, in the front bag) and the flight attendants are really polite and nice, but the space is minimum.

We flew TACA from Maimi to San Jose, Costa Rica on May 20, 2006 and then from San Jose, Costa Rica to San Francisco on May 29, 2006. On the way back we had to change planes in El Salvador.
We loved everything about the airline except for one thing you should be cautious about. We got to Miami airport TACA check-in counter 56 minutes before the flight (which is usually plenty of time), and the check in person informed us that TACA HAS A STRICT CHECK-IN CUT-OFF OF 1 HOUR and that we cannot fly on this flight anymore, which was a bummer. After 5 mins of negotiation and some phone calls that the check-in manager made, we were checked-in.
Other than that the experience was outstanding. Good very clean aircraft, eatable meal for purchase, friendly flight attendants, free alcohol and good coffee on board, very convenient connection in El Salvador (next door gate), timely landings in both flights.
We will definitely use TACA for all our Central America flights.
