The entire lodge was spotless and all the people who worked there were very friendly and went out of their way to make certain everything was great. In that category, special kudos go to Vilma Solis. The restaurant food was excellent and the chef, Joe prepared excellent meals, including the fish we caught.
It is the appearance and the people that make a vacation spot special and Agua Dulce excelled in both categories, not to mention the beautiful beach and pool, both of which are mere steps away from your room.
To say Agua Dulce was excellent would be an understatement.

Agua Dulce Lodge provided the perfect home base for our Costa Rican trip. Some days were spent relaxing at the pool or on the beach—just a few steps from our accommodations. Other days we fished, toured the lush rainforest, visited a chocolate farm. If you’re looking for a unique experience, don’t miss the zip-lining opportunity. At the end of each day, it was great to “come home” to Agua Dulce Lodge. Everyone there made us feel welcomed. The restaurant staff even cooked our catch and served it with all the fixin’s. Nothing tastes better than fresh fish that you caught yourself. We really had a great time.

I have been going to Costa Rica since 2006. I have traveled up & down the Pacific coast & have found the most beautiful, tranquil place in Costa Rica, “the Osa Peninsula”. I have stayed at many lodges/cabanas along the way. Agua Dulce Lodge (Sweet Water Lodge) is the perfect place for me! It sits right on the beach, I mean right on the beach! The restaurant/bar overlooks the Gulf of Dulce & their enormous in-ground swimming pool with Jacuzzi & swim-up bar. The upstairs bar seats around 30 people (most places I have stayed seat around 7 or 8 people). You could sit there all day & just enjoy the sights like monkeys, red-breast macaws) & the sound of the waves. The villas are very large, clean, have 2 queen size beds in each of the two bedrooms, air conditioning, two full baths, hot & cold water with the biggest showers you have ever seen, a living room & even a Jacuzzi room. The price was very reasonable. It cost the same to stay here as any other place. The service was fabulous & all the staff spoke English. They all went out of their way to make us feel like this was our home. The chef, the bartenders, servers, maids, everybody was fantastic. The food was great! The drinks were ice cold! And everything came with a smile! We ate & drank at the lodge our whole trip. There was no need to go anywhere else. We couldn’t have been treated any better. This is the only place to stay in Puerto Jimenez!

Let’s talk about fishing! I only started fishing four years ago. It was with Captain Oscar Villobos & his mate/friend named Carlos. We got in Captain Oscar’s boat & started out the bay when about 20 spinning dolphins escorted us on our journey. Unbelievable!!! Oscar & Carlos were both talking/kidding around saying, “are you a good person, if so you will catch fish, if not you will not catch any fish.” I thought to myself what is going on? Well let me tell you…These two men are born & raised here & know the waters like the back of their hands. We all caught so many fish that it felt like our arms were going to fall off. From roosters, to sailfish you name it we caught it! I guess that is way they say this is the #3 place in the world to fish. Or is really because we are good people?

If you’re staying in Puerto Jimenez, stay at the best resort—Agua Dulce. If you’re fishing off the Osa, fish with the best—Oscar and Carlos.

the service was excellent. the housekeeping was on point with every detail. Restaurant and bar had everything we needed, including very cold beer, a big plus in my book. the restaurant is probably one of the biggest restaurant and bar in the area. the resort is located in front of beachfront property, where the waves are always crashing in front of your face. I found the rooms to be very well in space and very comfortable beds. the town is only few minutes away, where you can also find additional bars and restaurants. they also have a pool and spa area surrounded by beautiful landscaping and exotic livestock. I had a wonderful stay and I plan on telling my friends and family. definitely a two thumbs up resort!!!!
