The staff was fantastic! The view from the hotel was great! And the canopy tour was very very fun. If I go back to Costa Rica I would stay at Vista Golfo.

We took our family of four to Costa Rica for 10 days and our stay at Hotel Vista Golfo was one of the highlights of our trip. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was incredible. They were all so friendly and helpful, ready to lend a hand wherever it was needed. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the service was a delight. We spent two nights at the hotel with a view of Puntarenas and the bay on the horizon. (The hotel had decided to upgrade our room to the suite on the hill) During our stay we took the two different canopy trips and had a great time seeing the wonders of the area. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to be with. We had a rather large group the first day on the larger course and everything went very smoothly. It was great to meet and get acquainted with fellow vacationers. This was our last stop on a memorable trip and it could not have been any better. We had a young woman in the second canopy tour that was afraid of the zip lines and reluctant to go. Her friend had talked her into it, but she was very concerned. It was quite a joy to see her fear turn to a smile and then to pure joy as she went through the course. It became a memory she would never want to trade. This is an adventure not to be missed and to stay at the hotel made it all the better. To the staff and owners who made this a lasting memory goes our thanks and appreciation for a flawless stay.

The Canopy tour over 25 canopies over 11 waterfalls was wonderful! The guides were friendy, funny and experienced. They gave us a lot of confidence to use the zip lines without fear. The waterfalls were beautiful. Mid-way through, we took a 20 minute break and swam in a beautiful pool beneath a waterfall. The day included lunch and the lunch was delicious. The choices were chicken, pork or beef. We chose the pork and had great grilled pork chops. Very tasty! The lunch was followed by hot, good costa rican coffee. The location of the hotel Vista Golfo is only 30 minutes from our beach resort. It's an easy one day trip to experience, and you get back to the beach resort by 2:30pm. The whole experience was fun, exciting and the highlight of our Costa Rican vacation. i will definitely go there again if I go back to Costa Rica.
I would include this as a "must do" if you are in Puntarenas.

How can I say enough about Hotel del Golfo's Canopy Tour, it is an excellent experience. My husband and I visited Costa Rica in May 2008. All of our experiences were fantastic, but one of our main highlights was the Canopy Tour and Horseback ride at Hotel del Golfo in Miramar. We are both physically active senior's and found this easy to do, even for the first time. Every staff member was friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. We loved the combination of the horseback ride up the mountain to the first of 25 canopy/zipline platforms. Traversing the cables, which included, 2 rapells and over 11 waterfalls was not only fun but very beautiful. Don't forget to wear a swimsuit under your clothes as the mid break is a cool dip in a pool below one of the waterfalls. Being knowledgable about horses and riding I was given one of the more spirited horses, what a kick this was for me. After finishing our canopy tour we were treated to a delicious lunch on the deck. Before leaving I bought one of the ceramic pots from the gift shop. It is very beautiful in my home and it will always remind me of our experience at your facility.
Hotel del Golfo staff members, you have a great thing going at your resort and a beautiful view down the mountain and to the Pacific ocean. Keep up the good work and when we return to Costa Rica you can bet we will return for another Horseback, Canopy Tour. We wish you much success!

If you are an extreme adventurer, then this is the canopy tour for you. It is 3 activities rolled into one price. A 45 minute horseback ride, then 25 cables (with two rappels) traversing over 11 beautiful waterfalls cascading down the mountain, followed by a delicious lunch. The bilingual staff is very experienced and very friendly. This canopy tour is only an hour 1/2 from Jaco. It's very scenic and well worth the drive. Don't let your hotel fool you to think that it's further, like ours tried to do. They will also provide transportation to and from your resort for an additional fee if you want/need.

We spent 3 wonderful nights at Hotel Vista Golfo above Miramar during our 3 week trip to Costa Rica. It was a highlight of the trip.
Vista Golfo is a small, family-owned hotel and adverture park. The porch of our room overlooked the gardens, swimming pool, lobby and restaurant. Beyond that was a beautiful view of the gulf in the distance.
The lobby is covered by a huge tree and you can sit in one of the rocking chairs to watch the sun set over the gulf. At the restaurant we felt like we had our own private chef. The food was incredible and the presentation was a good as any cruise ship we have been on.
Our room had ample space and was very clean. Fresh flowers appeared daily on the small table. No need for air conditioning as the temperatures cooled off in the evening. There was a television and coffee maker in the room. (We mentioned one evening that we were out of coffee filters and by the time we got back to the room, they were already there.) The cost was less than $70 per day and included breakfast.
The 1st night only 1 other room was occupied; the 2nd night, 2 others. The last night (Saturday) there were more people. During the day 'Turismo' vans arrived bringing visitors to enjoy the adventure park. There is a canopy tour, ATV tours, horseback riding, climbing wall, etc. None of this detracted from the peacefulness of the area. We enjoyed simply hiking down to the waterfall on the property or relaxing in a hammock.
Barbara, one of the owners, arranged a day tour to an orchid company for us and also provided transportation. She said the next time we visit just let her know what we want to do and she would make all of the arrangements. All of her staff made certain that we were enjoying ourselves.
If it sounds like we were impressed with Hotel Vista Golfo, we were! We would definitely stay there again.
