AmaTierra Retreat & Wellness Center, located in the mountains of the Central Valley (1 hour west of San Jose and 1 hour north of the Central Pacific beaches) is an intimate wellness center and hotel specializing in yoga and professional wellness services.
We are pleased to announce the grand opening of our brand new, open-air, hardwood yoga studio, sitting above the Turrubares Valley. You will feel as if you are the only one in the whole valley, allowing you to reconnect with your peaceful inner self through Hatha yoga classes (offered twice daily) and bodywork, including such services as deep tissue and lymphatic massages, abdominal chi-mover massage, myofascial release (subject to availability), energy balancing, and volcanic clay wrap.
With our focus on healing and personal rejuvenation through yoga, massage, meditation and Eastern herbal medicine, AmaTierra is the perfect place to which to escape from your busy schedule and to focus on your body and spirit. We also offer special retreats and seminars focused on herbal medicine and various approaches to holistic wellness.
AmaTierra is also a convenient stopping place if you are visiting Manuel Antonio Park and/or Arenal Volcano, or make AmaTierra your home base as you venture on day trips to a variety of area attractions. AmaTierra offers excursions to some of Costa Rica's finest attractions, including Turubari Tropical Park, a wonderful destination for experiencing the zip line canopy tours; guided tours of Carara National Park; Organic Coffee Farm Tour. And don't forget a tour and sampling at the best cigar factory in all of Central America in the town of Santiago de Puriscal. We'll help you visit the stunning Pacific beaches (less than 1 hour away), the hot springs beneath Arenal Volcano and the ecological parks that make up 30% of this fabulous country.
AmaTierra is set on 8 acres on the outskirts of the Central Valley. At 2000 feet, it has an ideal climate which stays between 62-84 degrees year round.

Tours at AmaTierra Retreat & Wellness Center
TURU BA RI Tropical Park:
One day adventure rain forest tours such as the famous Costa Rica canopy tour (voted best in area), the rain forest aerial tram tour, the gudied tropical park tour, and horseback ride tour.
Horseback Riding through the mountains in the authentic Costa Rica:
Two hour rides with fabulous mountain and ocean views; ride through a traditional "finca", see staple agricultural crops, rainforest or ride to thermal hot springs or a lovely waterfall close to AmaTierra.
Carara National Park Jungle Tour:
An Expert Tour Guide will show you the famous Scarlet Macaws, three kinds of monkeys, iguanas, colorful frogs and crocodiles. This tour is only 1 hour's drive from AmaTierra and will spark your adventurer's spirit. If you wish, add the Tarcoles River boat tour to your day at Carara Park, with Vic's Tours.
Tortuga Island Snorkel & Relax:
If you love to be on the water, spend a day on a snorkeling tour to Tortuga Island. AmaTierra provides the transportation to Puntarenas, where Calypso Cruises takes you on a comfortable cruise boat to Punta Coral Private Reserve and Tortuga Island. Tortuga Island is a tropical white-sand paradise, where you can explore the crystal blue reefs and get a closer look at the sea-life with fins and mask. Other activities on the island include beach volleyball and hiking trails within a private rainforest, offering you a chance to spy on birds, monkeys, insects, and other native Costa-Rican creatures. Calypso Tours includes a delicious lunch cooked on an open grill and chilled white wine. A multi-lingual Guide will answer questions while you relax and enjoy the ride! $99. per person. Take some Surf Lessons in Jaco Beach (Day Trip), fun in the sun and then back to AmaTierra for dinner.
