Our daughter selected Cala Luna for her April 1, 2007 destination wedding location. The staff was very accommodating in every aspect and no small detail was overlooked. Our deluxe rooms were very clean and private. Our daughter and new son-in-law relocated to a spectacular villa for their honeymoon stay including their own private pool. The restaurant served delicious meals with personal service by the chef and staff. Lovely location for a private beach wedding and poolside dinner reception. Extensive menu selection. Improvements: ceiling fans in lobby area; live music poolside! Only minutes from shopping and local restaurants. Look forward to spending another relaxing vacation at Cala Luna!

We had our wedding at Cala Luna and stayed there the two nights before and one night after the wedding.
We enjoyed our stay. I heard the villas were very nice but we stayed in one of the hotel rooms. It was a pretty, colorful room and - compared to some of the rooms our guests stayed in at other hotels, including Diria - these rooms had a lot more charactor. The bathroom was awesome and had a huge sunken tub. The handmade soaps were a nice touch. Each room seemed to be part of a sort of maze, so you had the illusion of lots of privacy on your patio. The staff was very welcoming and food at the restaurant was great.
One complaint that people have about the hotel, however, is that it is a bit out of the way. This is a valid complaint -- the hotel is farther up the beach from the main part of Tamarindo and it is not directly on the beach (although very close). The beach it is near is very pretty but you probably wouldn't want to swim in it as much the beach by the main part of the city. This did not affect us too much, it wasn't that far away. Having to take a cab all the time was kind of annoying but worth it, in my opinion. Also, the walk down to the main beach wasn't that bad.
Cala Luna was a great place to have the wedding. The beach near the hotel was the perfect setting and everything was beautiful. We had our reception by the pool and everyone had a wonderful time.
I would highly suggest this location for a wedding. It was also a great place to stay. The only time I got jealous of someone else's hotel was when I saw Sueno Del Mar. I'd probably try that place next time. But I also recommend Cala Luna.

Our family just returned last night from 5 nights at Cala Luna. Namely, Sandrine, Kenneth, Roberto, Jugo and Walter made our stay unforgettable. From the time we were picked up from the Tamarindo airport by Jugo! The best service and hospitality provided by all!
Our 3 bedroom villa was clean, air conditioned and roomy for the 5 of us. The private pool provided a nice cool off after a day at the beach and walking around town!
Sandrine set up everything for us - a day of canopy tour, horseback riding and mud baths at Rincon de la Vieja, surf lessons with Soledad, our private birthday party on the beach for our 18 year old son and massages provided in our villa!!
Pretty grounds with friendly inviting staff. We will return and we will recommend to all of our friends and family. Pura Vida!!!!
