Hotel Sugar Beach is located on Playa Pan de Azúcar, part of the Gold Coast in northern Guanacaste. Our beach front rooms & suites are spaciously positioned for privacy, garden & spectacular ocean views. We are lucky to be able to operate and offer this hotel on one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica!
While at the hotel, guests will enjoy the property with howler monkies, coati mundis, garobas, parrots, blue magpie jays and many more species native to the tropical dry forest! If you choose to explore the area, there are national park tours, sailing tours, snorkeling, diving and fishing tours among other’s available.
You'll note - our hotel staff is committed to providing a comfortable and relaxing experience for our guests while continuing a cooperative effort to reduce our impact on local natural resources.
The hotel has 30 rooms spread out on the 24 acre beach front property. Hotel Sugar Beach shares the dry forest with monkeys, iguanas, coatis, raccoons, and the beauty and abundance of Costa Rica's Natural World.
Our rooms are spacious and comfortable and offer privacy, large patios, air conditioning, ceiling fans, satellite television, telephones, hot water and refrigerators.

Accommodations and Amenities at Sugar Beach Hotel
Hotel Sugar Beach has 28 guest rooms and two beach houses. All are equipped with ceiling fans, air conditioning, TV, telephone, refrigerators, hairdryer, safety box and furnished patios.
Standard Garden View Rooms
(10 rooms in 5 duplex bungalows) The Standard Garden View Rooms are located in a spacious garden area - a popular hang outs for the Howler monkeys! The garden rooms have two double beds and can accomodate one to four people.
Standard Ocean View Rooms
(4 rooms in 2 beach front bungalows) The Standard Ocean View Rooms are four spacious rooms with the best ocean front views. Each room has two queen beds and can accomodate one to four people.
Deluxe Rooms
(6 with king bed & pool view and 2 with two queen beds & partial ocean view) The Deluxe Rooms offer one of two choices: (1) Six rooms have a king size bed with a pool view patio; (2) Two rooms have 2 queen beds and patio with partial ocean view. All deluxe rooms have ceiling fans, AC, TV, telephone, safety box, refrigerator, hairdryer and large patio. The deluxe rooms have been designed with comfort and style! Triple & quad occupancy only available in rooms with 2 beds.
Honeymoon Suite
The room with the best view - the honeymoon suite is a large second story room with a wrap around balcony. Facing west with several long windows, the suite has ocean views from the king bed!
Master Suites
The Master Suites are One Bedroom suites located near the pool with partial ocean view. Each has a king size bed with AC and TV in the bedroom and an open air living room. Modern and spacious, the suites have 2 private balconies and are located on the second story above the deluxe rooms.
Palm Suite (Beach Front)
The Palm Suite offers unique lodging for 2 to 6 guests. It has two air conditioned bedrooms - one room with a king bed and one with two double beds. Each bedroom has a private entrance, bathroom, AC, TV, ceiling fan and safe box and shares an open air patio. The suite is located less than 60 meters to the beach, perfect for lounging comfortably shaded, or relaxing later in the evenings in front of a magnificent Pacific sunset. The Palm suite has ramp access.
Coconut Suite (Beach Front)
(available November 2008)
The Coconut Suite will offer two connected rooms that share an open air patio. It has two air conditioned bedrooms, one room with a king bed & single bed, and one room with a queen bed & single bed. Each bedroom has a private bathroom, AC, TV, ceiling fan and safe box. The open air patio is located less than 60 meters to the beach. The Coconut suite is suitable for families with young children.
Beach House
The Beach House is centrally located on the cove. It has a wide open view of the Pacific Ocean. This house has three bedrooms - two bedrooms have 2 double beds, and one bedroom has a queen size bed. The Beach House has 2 bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living room, and large ocean front porch.
The Grand Villa
Our beach front Grand Villa is tucked away on the southern edge of Playa Pan de Azúcar. From this tranquil spot, guests enjoy the added privacy with full access to the hotel's facilities. This two-story Spanish colonial home has 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, TV, a large dining and living room, full kitchen, second story deck and porch with chairs and lounges.
Restaurant at Hotel Sugar Beach
Our ocean-view open-air restaurant is open daily from 6:30am to 9:30pm. Enjoy both international cuisine and typical Costa Rican dishes!
