What a wonderful stay we had. The people that work there are fabulous. I would definently go back again. You need to have a car if you stay here becuase it is very remote but the nearby town is super charming and full of more great people. The restuarants down there are great as well and totally safe to eat at. The food and drinks are really good, ask Victor to make you Guaro - it is excellent. I strongly reccomend all of the seafood on the menu but not the chicken dishes so much. The beef dishes are excellent as well. This is a great place to stay if you want to get away from it all and just relax. Not the place for singles but for couples and families it is perfect. We did a couple of the tours that were available and they were great.
We only worried the first day about the potential problems with water and food but after that we ate and drank everything and never had a problem.
Enjoy the private beach - it is all yours at Hotel Sugar Beach.

My husband and I stayed at the Sugar Beach Hotel at the end of July 2008. This was the first leg of our week long vacation. We had a suite and it was very comfortable and well appointed. The view of the beach was beautiful as were the grounds. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The only detractions were the pool and the local people who used the beach and the grounds. The pool was small. The locals were aggregiously hostile towards Americans. One young man called me "Gringo".
