This environmental- and nature-friendly lodge provides a clean and safe environment that does not use chemicals and strives to conserve energy and water as much as possible. Visit this hotel if you truly want a vacation that focuses not on material luxuries but on the nature surrounding you.
That isn't to say you'll be missing out, though. Staff at Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge are always friendly and approachable. The limited-hour front desk provides a wide range of services that range from planning weddings to assisting guests with purchasing tickets or reserving tours through local nature preserves. Guests never go hungry at the lodge, which features a free breakfast comprised of delicious local cuisine as well as a restaurant and bar and lounge. Room service is available during limited hours and if you do need just a bit of material luxury in your life, massages are available in your room upon request.
The smoke-free, pet-free property also provides luggage storage, on-site laundry facilities and a common room for mingling with other guests or catching your favorite program on the property's only television. A beautiful garden, free wireless internet and on-site hiking and biking trails round out the many features of this ecolodge. After spending a few days unplugging your mind and re-charging your soul, you may never want to leave.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge features 20 guest rooms on a single floor. Up to two children ages six or younger may stay free with parents. Guests can begin checking in at 11:00 a.m. If you plan to arrive after 9:00 p.m., you must contact the property in advance. Check-out time is 12:00 p.m. A 24-hour airport shuttle is available for guests who contact the property and arrange it in advance.

Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge features 20 rooms meant to be the perfect balance between modern comforts and getting back to nature. Each of the bungalow-style bedrooms creates a true mountain lodge experience while remaining cozy and comfortable. These rustic cabins don't disappoint, though. Each one features environmentally friendly amenities such as energy-efficient light bulbs and homemade outdoor lighting systems.
In keeping with the natural vibe of the hotel, rooms are not equipped with televisions, which gives you plenty of time to sit on the front porch and enjoy nature or read your favorite books. If you simply can't miss a program, a television is available in the common area. Rooms do not have traditional heating or air conditioning methods, but plenty of shade and moderate temperatures keep the area comfortable anyway.
Each private bedroom features a coffee and tea maker to help you get started in the morning. Premium bedding and a memory foam mattress ensure you are well-rested when you explore the surrounding area each day. Other room amenities include a private bathroom with a shower, free toiletries, free wireless internet, a desk and an in-room safe. Hair dryers are available upon request, and housekeeping is done daily. Some rooms are handicap-accessible.
Monteverde Butterfly Garden - Featuring four separate butterfly habitats that are home to more than 30 species, the Monteverde Butterfly Garden provides guests a chance to get up close and personal with these beautiful insects. The 3-acre property also features more than 20 other species of insects and arachnids as well as birds, monkeys and much more.
Selvatura Adventure Park - If you want to go zip-lining while you're in Costa Rica, Selvatura Adventure Park is the place to do it. The three-hour zip-line tour features 12 cables, 18 platforms and a Tarzan Swing at heights of up to 60 meters.
Taco Taco Restaurant - Of course, you need to keep your energy up while you're out and about. If you happen to be near Taco Taco, stop by its walk-up window to grab some of the best chicken or fish tacos in the city.
Horseback Riding - Exploring nature on horseback in common in Monteverde. Trek up and down the mountains with a local tour guide as you take in spectacular views of local plant and animal life.
