Itinerary and Tours at Samoa Lodge & Resort Tortuguero
At 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 a.m., there are pick-ups at the major hotels of San José. We also estimate further pick-ups at the restaurant Caribbean Dish in Siquirres at 9:00 a.m. for all those people returning from other tours and for whom it is easier to participate in this tour from there.
During the trip, our clients will enjoy the beautiful sight of the Central Valley, passing by the coffee plantations, known as "Grano de Oro". The guide will provide a brief socio-economical and historical explanation about the coffee production in Costa Rica.
Later on the road, we will be going close by the Braulio Carrillo National Park, which is located 7500 feet above the sea level and is one of the places with the most variety of birds, mammals, flora and fauna.
After arriving in Guápiles, we will stop for typical Costa Rican breakfast.
Banana Plantations and Packing Stations Tour
This tour includes a 15 minute visit of a banana plantation where visitors can appreciate a close-up view of the whole process of cutting, preparation, and packing of the bananas for exportation, accompanied by ample information by your guide.
When we reach the pier of Caño Blanco, we will get ready to go on the boat that will take us through the exuberant canals of Tortuguero, where the hotel is located.
After check in, we will have lunch and get ready for the tour to the village in the afternoon.
The afternoon tour to the village of Tortuguero will provide detailed information on its history, culture and work in favor of conservation of the sea turtles and all other flora and fauna. We will also visit the Sea Museum of the “Caribbean Conservation Corporation”, where the guest will learn more information received during the village-tour. After the tour, you can enjoy a walk through the gift-shops and get a typical Caribbean souvenir. Duration of the tour: 1½ hours
Morning-Tour On the second day, we will take an early morning visit of the canals within the National Park of Tortuguero to discover a large variety of birds and to receive detailed information on the flora and fauna. Duration of the tour: 2 hours.
Hill of Tortuguero Tour This tour is included in the trip of 3 days and 2 nights. It provides impressive views on the whole valley of Tortuguero and from the trail it is easy to discover its different species of inhabitants among which are three different kinds of monkeys, sloths, caimans, turtles, iguanas, poison arrow frogs, many birds, and insects including the blue butterfly (Morpho peleides).
On the hotel property you have the possibility to take a walk on the different trails through exuberant vegetation which is full of life, as well as through the gardens on the property to discover various species of exotic and tropical flowers.
