Overview

Cabinas las Olas
Cabinas las Olas

If your idea of a perfect vacation is more time spent in the water than on land, Cabinas Las Olas makes an excellent base camp for your Costa Rica surf vacation. With beaches that are far less crowded than those you find in Hawaii or California, the waters off Costa Rica's shores serve up plenty of breaks, swells and tasty waves. Add in ample land-based activities in a natural wonderland, and there's more than enough to make this area a fantastic place to enjoy some of the greatest waves to be found anywhere on the planet.

Cabinas Las Olas is on one of the most beautiful stretches of beaches in Costa Rica, the Playa Avellana, on the northern Pacific Coast. Together with Playas Langosta, Tamarindo, Grande, Negra and Junquillal, this area is a world-class surf destination. With reef, point and beach breaks, Playa Avellana has the right waters for surfers of all experience levels, novice to expert. Together with its pristine white sands and crystal-clear aquamarine water, this beach offers vacationers an unforgettable time.

As a purveyor of natural adventures, Cabinas Las Olas takes preservation seriously. Its buildings are in harmony with their surroundings, which include many trees in danger of extinction, including the roble, laurel, cenizaro, coco bolo and Costa Rica's national symbol, the Guanacaste. The hotel works to reduce its carbon footprint by adopting sustainable practices that protect the beauty of natural flora and fauna for the next generation.

Las Olas has constructed a raised and low-impact wooden walkway to allow guests easy access to the beach. It crosses an estuary that supports a mangrove reserve and some of the area's different landscapes. A variety of wildlife makes their home here including raccoons, monkeys, anteater bears and thousands of species of birds. Guests walk through a natural wonderland on the way to and from the beach.

Surfing and nature exploration can tire you quickly, especially if you're not used to the level of exertion. We'll start you off each morning with a complimentary continental breakfast and refuel you throughout the day at our ultra-casual restaurant/bar, which features international and local cuisine.
