Blue River Resort & Hot Springs is located on the north side of Rincon de la Vieja National Park in the province of Guanacaste. It is a great mountain / rainforest resort where you will experience what Costa Rica has to offer. Blue River Resort & Hot Springs is a conveniently located mountain rainforest lodge offering a truly unique and authentic Costa Rica experience that includes hot springs, blue rivers and many eco-adventure tours. Your rooms are 740 square foot cabanas with all the trimmings (see room section) Resort amenities include 5 beautiful pools (4 of them natural mineral ‘green’ hot spring pools and a large fresh water pool with a bullet slide), botanical gardens, butterfly gardens, natural mud baths and a spa. Set forth on tours to experience the area’s blue rivers, waterfalls and the majestic Rincon de la Vieja volcano on tours that include horseback riding, zip lining, water tubing, hiking and white water rafting.
Just a 90 minute drive from Liberia, the resort is located on the north side of the volcano, Rincon de la Vieja. Only this side of the volcano is in cool lush rainforest, so be prepared to experience the transition from dry savannah with mountain views and rural village people. In fact the drive is part of the experience.
In addition to the pools and the botanical gardens there is an orchid garden, a hummingbird center, a butterfly garden and turtle, frog and fish pongs all on the property. It is a true eco hotel. Across from the property is the Rio Azul, a gorgeous blue river to swim in. The natural mud bath and sauna will be a treat. "We spent a wonderful half day walking g around the grounds enjoying the hummingbirds,butterflies,gardens,etc. Wish we has brought our swimming suits so we could have enjoyed the mud baths and hot springs . It was worth the 20 dollars. We had forgot the lights on our rental car so battery dead. Resort help was very helpful and got us going."
