Activities

Arenal Eco Zoo – This popular nature center educates guests on some of the animal species that are indigenous to the cloud forests in the northwestern region of Costa Rica.

Butterfly Conservatory – With a focus on the study and preservation of butterflies in the Arenal volcano area, this attraction is open to both tourists and academics who want to learn more about the country’s conservation efforts.

La Fortuna Waterfall – You can hike to the bottom of this 70 to 75-meter waterfall to swim in the natural pool at the base.

Arenal Volcano National Park – With a quietly active volcano, which emits puffs of steam rather than hot lava, this volcano is one of the most visited attractions in Costa Rica. You can hike to the lava trails, spy the waterfalls, or take a dip in the hot springs.

"Best ever! Nepenthe has the best view of the Arenal volcano and Lake Arenal ( even our driver said that) which is gorgeous. All of the employees really go out of their way to give guests the best experience - Fabian(also the masseuse) and Joel in the office and Juan, Luisa and Rosa at the restaurant. Rooms were cleaned (sorry I don't know their names). No in room safe , but people are honest - I left my credit card and $40 in the office and it was returned to me. Lie by the pool, relax, listen to the birds and the monkeys, watch the volcano - Pura Vida. Or drinks on deck at sunset. Highly recommend!???? Only possible downside is the road there not paved - so get a driver or 4 wheel drive vehicle."

"This is such a charming B&B with exceptionally friendly & accommodating staff. Wonderful breakfasts in a delightful area over looking the Laguna Arenal. I highly recommend staying here. It's a rough road to get there but well worth the bumps."
