Find Your Secluded Island Escape at the Oxygen Jungle Villas

Are you looking for a truly authentic, Costa Rica jungle experience? Do you also want to stay near popular Costa Rica beaches while enjoying a unique, luxurious atmosphere? If so, look no further than the Oxygen Jungle Villas & Spa, located in the Costa Ballena Area in the southern part of Puntarenas.

The Oxygen Jungle Villas is a boutique resort mere steps away from both beautiful beaches and lush jungles in Uvita. The resort makes great use of its surroundings to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience.

Featuring just 12 luxury all-glass villas on the estate, the resort guarantees a maximum of no more than 24 guests on the property at any given time. This assures you get personalized service and a custom experience like no other!

The Oxygen Jungle Villas and Spa is only a short drive from the Palmar Sur airport, though it is quite a bit further from the San José International Airport, at about 210 kilometers (130 miles) away.

The drive requires a 4x4 vehicle and is well worth it! The scenic adventure to get to the property provides ample opportunities to visit other coastal cities such as Manuel Antonio and Dominical.

It’s easy to feel fully immersed in nature at the Oxygen Jungle Villas, as many of the rooms incorporate a natural yet modern-style decor. Additionally, the glass walls of the villas provide an unparalleled view of Uvita that furthers the hotel’s mission of allowing guests to relax and unwind in nature, fully disconnected from any distractions.

The Oxygen Jungle Villas also includes plenty of amenities and on-site locales to compliment your stay. Relax at the Di? Shum Spa, try traditional cuisine at the Ya?dé restaurant and bar, and take a dip in the infinity pool. Other amenities include free parking, free WiFi, a garden terrace, complimentary in-room breakfast, air conditioned rooms, and guided yoga classes.

In addition to the incredible views, there’s lots to do in and around the Oxygen Jungle Villas. Lounge on the beach, take a walking tour or hike through the jungle, or try your hand at diving, horseback riding, fishing, and snorkeling.

Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife. Most notably, toucans, sloths, and howler monkeys have been frequently spotted on the property, while whale watching boat tours are a popular activity during migration season.

Do be aware that the hotel is an adults-only resort, so while it’s not a good fit for families with young kids, it is the perfect spot for couples seeking a romantic getaway or small friend groups that appreciate a quiet environment. This policy helps to maintain the resort’s atmosphere of privacy and tranquility.

Adventure at the Best Nearby Attractions

There are plenty of ways to spend your time in Costa Rica, both from the comforts of your hotel and throughout the area the hotel is located, known as Costa Ballena.

Surrounding the hotel, you’ll find ample opportunities for adventure and relaxation in equal measures. This includes going whale watching, touring the Ballena National Marine Park, and visiting Playa Ventanas.

Whale Watching

Costa Rica’s Pacific coast is an ideal spot for a whale and dolphin watching tour, and with its convenient seaside location, Uvita is no exception. For nature lovers, whale watching is a can’t-miss event, especially if your trip happens to coincide with migration season.

Humpback whales are the most common species of whale spotted in or near Costa Rica, but over 25 other species either make their home in the area or pass through during their migration. The best season for whale watching is between late July to November, and again from December to March when the whales make their return journey.

Whale watching tours typically involve boarding a boat and traveling a good distance away from the shore, so make sure to dress in layers to keep the chill of the ocean winds at bay.

Explore the Beautiful Coastline

You can view the coastline from the comfort of a villa, but if you really want to experience the best of what Costa Rica has to offer, you’ll want to make the journey down to the shoreline yourself.

One of the best ways to do so is to visit the Ballena National Marine Park in South Puntarenas, which is a reserve that encompasses miles of sprawling forests and beaches.

Ballena National Marine Park is home to a wide variety of marine life, as well as many different plant and animal species on land and in the trees. Bird watching is a popular activity here, and visitors can commonly spot sea turtles, bottle-nosed dolphins, whales, and dozens of varieties of tropical fish.

The park contains multiple beaches with plenty of areas for swimming, as well as opportunities for scuba diving in the coral reefs just off the shore. One of the most striking parts of Marino Ballena National Park, the rock formations at Punta Uvita Tombola, is only revealed during low tide.

Visit Playa Ventanas Beach

If you’re in search of one of the best ways to spend a sunny day, make sure to hit the beach. Playa Ventanas gets its name from the rocky caves, or ‘windows,’ that surround the coast. It is an especially unique beach that provides ample opportunity for relaxing and exploring.

Many locals like to camp out on the beach throughout the day, setting up a hammock and enjoying a picnic. This gives the beach somewhat of a lively vibe, but rest assured that if you’re just here to soak in the atmosphere, there’s more than enough space to stroll along the shore.

If you’re feeling adventurous, explore the caves at low tide. Alternatively, enjoy a wide variety of water sports such as boogie boarding, swimming, and kayaking. Also, be sure to take in the view during sunset, which provides an excellent backdrop for souvenir photos.
