Mavi Surf Hotel was founded by a man named Max who was tired of the grueling nine to five and just wanted to spend more and better time with his wife and two kids. After falling in love with surfing on a trip to Bali, he and wife, Barbara, packed up their two kids (Margherita and Viola, or MAVI) and moved them to Costa Rica. There, he created a place where friends and family can relax, enjoy each other’s company and marvel over all the glorious nature Costa Rica has to offer.
The hotel is environmentally friendly, and its owners strive to maintain as much as the natural surroundings as possible. With just eight rooms spread across two buildings and four floors, guests enjoy privacy and solitude that they would be unable to obtain at many other larger resorts.
Within its walls, the resort features a good sized swimming pool with a section dedicated for children, a sunny lawn on which patrons can lounge and a tropical bar. The hotel also boasts a coffee shop/café so that guests can get their morning jolt before hitting the waves.
After a grueling surf session or after a long day at one of the nearby adventure parks, schedule a yoga session with an on-site instructor. The instructor gives classes for beginners, intermediate and expert yogis alike. Clean room at Mavi Surf Hotel
The rooms at Mavi Surf Hotel are more like spacious studios than they are hotel rooms. Each suite is spacious and designed to make guests feel as if they are at home away from home. The rooms have multiple windows to allow in as much of the tropical sunshine as possible.
All rooms include their own private terrace, each of which come complete with a dining table, four chairs, a surf rack and a hammock. Each terrace faces is surrounded by ample vegetation so as to ensure complete privacy.
All rooms at Mavi Surf Hotel are furnished with one king size bed, two bed side tables, a full-size sofa bed and a cedar wood closet. They sleep two to four guests. Guests get their own private bathrooms with a full shower. The rooms have kitchenettes, ideal for visitors who prefer to make their own meals rather than eat out every night. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, tea and coffee maker, cutlery and glasses.
Each room has an A/C unit, ceiling fans, a safety box and WiFi. Rooms are cleaned daily, and towels and linens changed every third day. If you prefer daily changing, you can request it at check in.
All rooms are decorated in a way that reminds guests that they’re in the great country of Costa Rica. Local art adorns the walls, and bamboo and other tropical elements are scattered from kitchen to living room to bathroom. All rooms are non-smoking.
