Hotel Las Brisas

Hotel Las Brisas is a small family-run hotel on the western end of the Barrio Las Playitas peninsula on the Gulf of Nicoya. Situated just a few steps from the beach, the hotel is named for the ocean breezes, las brisas, that blow through the property. Reserve one of the facility’s 26 spacious and comfortable rooms that overlook either the pool or the calm Caribbean water.

Getting to the Puntarenas area may be easiest by flying to nearby the Tambor airport, an airstrip 21 miles from the hotel. Alternatively, arrive by land after a 60-mile drive from the capital city of San José. The town of Puntarenas, a destination for international and local Costa Rican tourists, also serves cruise ships.

Thanks to its private location at the end of the main road, guests can enjoy panoramic views of the Gulf of Nicoya. The gulf is an inlet of the Pacific Ocean lined with wetlands, cliffs and rocky islands typical of Costa Rica. Many tourists are drawn to the area to enjoy the tropical plants and animals indigenous to the local rainforest.

Dine on Mediterranean and other international cuisines at the onsite Greek-themed restaurant, Resto Las Brisas Restaurant. The restaurant is decorated with Greece in mind, including tall white columns, landscapes of Aegean sea scenes and other blue and white artifacts. Resto Las Brisas provides free daily buffet breakfast for all guests and serves a room service menu during convenient, but limited hours. The covered, open-air dining room with foosball table and ceiling fans is adjacent to the pool. Weddings and other special events can also be catered.

Enjoy a fresh swim in the crystal clear pool that continues the Greek theme. Long elegant columns surround a rectangular pool overlooked by a curved observation deck on the second level. A small pool appropriate for children and a hot tub reside under the shade of the balcony. Lounge chairs and umbrellas line a pool deck of black and white modern tile.

Rooms are spread across three levels and have cool tile floors with large windows or sliding glass doors. Blue and white linens combine with the ivory walls and nautical art to create a peaceful place to relax after a day of exploring. Some rooms have a small balcony with a sitting area.
