Overview

La Costa de Papito
La Costa de Papito

Awarded five coconuts for style, service and setting by Caribbean Travel Magazine, La Costa de Papito is a real jewel amongst jewels. Located on a private beach right outside the town of Puerto Viejo, this small resort prides itself on providing travelers with a world-class experience. Its mission is to not just to rent you a room, but to provide you with an experience. On one end of the resort is the majestic Caribbean and white beaches. On the other is the lush edge of the jungle.

Cocles Beach, which is right across the road from the resort, is ideal for surfers, sunbathers and novice swimmers alike. The north end is known for its breaking waves while the south is renowned for its cooler, sweeter waters. The beach itself is winner of the Costa Rican government’s Blue Flag for cleanliness.

Puerto Viejo and surrounding villages are like no other throughout the country. This is because much of the land is inhabited by Afro-Caribbeans in addition to 44 other nationalities. As a result, the culture is rich, colorful and lively.

Mamita’s Surf School is located right on the beaches of the resort. Sign the whole family up for a day of learning and bonding, or let your teenagers learn to surf while you sip Mai Tais in the bar/lounge.

Book a day at the on-site spa for a bit of pampering and much needed rest and relaxation. A deep tissue massage may be just what you need after a long day of swimming and putting those arm muscles to work on the surf board. Get a facial to revive your skin after a long day in the sun, or try out a new hair style with help from the sylists.

Start you day off right with a full breakfast from Que Rico Papito. The buffet boats fresh cakes and breads, fresh fruits, homefried potatoes and more. It also serves Costa Rica’s traditional side dish, Gallo Pinto, a delectable mixture of rice, beans and spices. For lunch and dinner, enjoy a sensual dining experience and exquisite gourmet dishes from the same restaurant, only in a much different atmosphere than the morning hours.
