Find a Golf Resort in Guanacaste

Golfing in Tambor
While most tourists come to Guanacaste for its fantastic weather and gorgeous beaches, nowadays many are also coming here for the world-class golf courses and resorts found in the province. As the game of golf is rapidly growing across the world, Guanacaste too has been hit by golfing fever. Some of the best golf courses in Costa Rica can be found here, with many courses still in their developmental stages.

Located along Guanacaste’s famous beach front, these golf resorts offer wonderful oceanic views with first rate facilities and amenities. Playing here is a true joy for the avid golfer as the tees are lush and green with some truly superb landscaping and design. And if you ever get tired of golf, you can always take a dip in the Pacific with the beach just a stone’s throw away.

The Hacienda Pinilla Golf Resort sits just a few miles outside the town of Tamarindo near the small settlement of San Jose de Pinilla. Designed by the famous Mike Young, this 7,500 yard 72 par 18-hole world-class golf course is surrounded by acres of Costa Rican forests and grassland. Considered as one of the best golf courses in the country, the green fees here can go as high as US$ 125 per person in the high season, with rental golf carts on hand for US$ 20 a day. An ecologically friendly championship course, the Hacienda Pinilla has also been certified by The Audubon Society. Perfectly manicured fairways, wide bunkers and lush putting greens, are just some of the many wonderful features of this golf course.

Another first-rate golf course in Guanacaste has to be the Garra de Leon course at The Paradisus Playa Conchal Resort. An 18-hole 72 par course spread out over 7,030 yards, the Garra de Leon is designed by noted architect Robert Trent Jones III. The only championship course to be situated directly on the seashore, this golf course has sweeping fairways and large rolling greens.

The Four Seasons Resort in the Papagayo Gulf, the Royal Pacific Golf and Country Club in Playa Grande, the Tamarindo Diria Beach and Golf Resort in Tamarindo and the Costa Palmera Beach Estate in Playa Grande also offer popular golf getaways in the province.
