The town of Nosara sits on the western coast of the Nicoya Peninsula and has one of the prettiest beaches on Guanacaste’s Gold Coast. Often referred to as the gateway to the Ostional Wildlife Refuge, Nosara has plenty of wonderful hotels, accommodations, resorts, cabinas and restaurants, in and around the area. Nearby are also the wonderful beaches of Playa Azul, Playa Guiones and Playa Pleda as well, which offer some amazing snorkeling and swimming opportunities.
With its own domestic airport, traveling to Nosara has never been easier. The airstrip lies some 15 minutes from the lovely Playa Nosara and there are plenty of taxis around the airport, available for passengers to use to reach downtown. Many hotels in Nosara also provide a shuttle service to and from the airport.
Near the airport lies the Nosara Police Station, in front of which you can find plenty of pay phones. However, to use them you have to purchase a calling card from the nearby grocery store.
Only Nature Air offers flights to Nosara from San Jose/ Pavas Intl Airport near Downtown San Jose. The Nature Air ticket office sits on Nosara Arenales.
If you have the money to spend you can also charter a private plane in Nosara, as it is quite affordable and offers more flexibility in terms of flying time. A regular flight from San Jose to Nosara takes around 35 minutes.
