Located in gorgeous Puerto Jiménez, Cacao Monkeys is a family-owned, family-operated hotel that provides five cabins for its guests. Surrounded by tropical rainforest, you'll wake up each morning to the sound of howler monkeys, iguanas and water birds that call the jungle and its nearby creek home. The hotel touts itself as a wellness center, and it is easy to see why. The nature-surrounded bungalows are perfect for relaxing with your favorite book before getting a good night's rest.

If you want to get up close and personal with Costa Rican nature, you need to check out the private trail at Cacao Monkeys. Meander your way through nearly two miles of lush foliage, beautiful insects and chatty birds before heading back to the hotel's gardens to sit and rest. Day and night tours with a trained guide are also available. With such a calm surrounding environment, it is natural for yogis to want to practice, which is why the hotel offers a breathtaking yoga platform that overlooks the gorgeous scenery of the area. Hiking, biking and kayaking are also available on the property, or if you prefer, you can spend the afternoon with a fishing pole in your hand.

After spending the afternoon enjoying the hotel's terrace, biking, kayaking or visiting the many nearby attractions, grab a bite to eat at the hotel's restaurant. Germinar specializes in healthy, sustainable and locally sourced vegetarian cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each meal is cooked to order to ensure guests' dietary needs and taste preferences are met.

Cacao Monkeys offers a front desk with limited hours. A safe is available here for protecting your valuable property while you're touring Costa Rica. The front desk also assists you with booking tickets for nearby adventure tours. Daily housekeeping is available.
