With the nearest major location being San Jose, getting to Puerto Jimenez is best done by plane. Luckily the Puerto Jimenez Domestic Airport is ready to welcome guests to this key town on the Osa Peninsula. Trying to drive here would take eight or nine hours, which is a long, hot trip, not to mention a huge waste of a day in this tropical locale. So, bypass the rental cars and instead book a ticket on a charter plane that will have you here before you know it.

Puerto Jimenez is located in the southern part of the Puntarenas province in Costa Rica. This town was once rather small but has grown significantly since the 1960s. Despite the growth, it has a laidback and relaxed feel to it with none of the hustle and bustle you might expect of a larger town.
