For those seeking an afternoon or weekend getaway, Marino Las Baulas National Park can be done with the help of a four-wheel drive vehicle. This park serves as a sanctuary for leatherback turtles during their nesting season. Protecting the seas, forests, mangroves and estuaries, there is incredibly biodiversity that makes this park home to incredible species, such as the armadillo, coati, magnificent frigatebird and brown pelican.

Getting to Playa Real
To get to Playa Real, travelers will likely land at Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport in Liberia, and get a taxi, shuttle or rental car from the airport. From the hamlet of Matapalo, visitors will venture down a small dirt road that opens up ... to paradise. Playa Real is a very private beach, so the trek may be slightly more challenging than more popular destinations, but the adventure is truly worth it.
