Find a Vacation Rental in South Puntarenas
Described by the National Geographic Magazine as one of the most biodiverse places in the world, the
Osa Peninsula in South Puntarenas
is a must visit for any tourist. Home to vast array of rare and endangered flora and fauna, this region of the country is beautiful beyond compare. What makes South Puntarenas so special is that this part of the province is pristine, wild and exotic. The beaches here are more secluded, the trails here are less touristy and the lifestyle here is more mellow. Also found here is one of the last standing stretches of Pacific coastal rainforests in Central America.
Most of the vacation rentals in
South Puntarenas
are found near and around the main towns in this part of the country.
Sierpe
,
Drake Bay
,
Puerto Jimenez
,
Cabo Matapalo
, Carate
Carate
,
Golfito
,
Zancudo
and
Pavones
, all have rental accommodations from the simple and basic to the more luxurious lodges and cabins. A good time to visit this region is between January and April when there is relatively less rain. However, do make a reservation before you get here as most of these places get rented out pretty quickly during peak tourist season.
One of the best places to live in this region has to be Drake Bay. Used as a base camp by many travelers and ecotourists, this bay is one of the best entry points to the
Isla del Caņo
and the Corcovado National Park. Breathtakingly gorgeous, this national park is the most remote in the country. And while much of it still remains unexplored,
Corcovado National Park is currently home to the largest population of Scarlet Macaws in Costa Rica
. The hiking trails here are terrific with plenty of wildlife watching opportunities for the avid nature lover.
If surfing is your thing, then head out to the
tiny town of Pavones
known for some of the longest breaks on the planet, while if you are into
sportsfishing, Golfito
is the place to be. With so much to see and do, it is no wonder then that so many tourists lease vacation rentals out here.
All the rentals in
South Puntarenas
offer marvelous views of the
Osa Peninsula
and Golfo Dolce, with amazing sunrises and sunsets to enjoy with your family or loved ones. Mostly ecolodges and cabins which run on solar power, the vacation rentals here are spacious and breezy with fully outfitted kitchens, hot and cold running water, screen windows, and often have a patio or terrace.
