Find Canopy Tours in San Jose

Canopy Tour Adrenaline
Canopy tours are a fun way to explore a rainforest as they provide you with incredibly breathtaking views. Definitely not for the faint hearted, canopying touring is a thrilling and amazing experience and is not to be missed out while you are in Costa Rica. If you are based in San Jose, you will find that most tour agencies and canopy tour operators have their offices based here. Thus, you have the chance to choose from a variety of canopy tours.

While there are no canopy tours in San Jose itself, there are plenty of side trips you can make to various canopy tour operations nearby. Easily accessible from the capital, these tours are excellent day outings and are a great way to spend some time seeing the very best of Costa Rica from a whole new perspective.

Tourists have several canopy tour options close to San Jose. The Original Canopy Tours at Mahogany Park sits just an hour outside of San Jose. In this tour you have 10 platforms to travel to at various locations. Around a 2 hour tour, you have the option to end your journey here with a flourish as you have a 60 foot rappel down to finish.

Also nearby is the Rainforest Aerial Tram in Heredia. Bordering the Braulio Carrillo National Park, this canopy tour offers a kind of cable car experience as you pass through the forest canopy, spotting many different kinds of birds and plant life. This tram is great for younger children to enjoy as well, as children under the age of 12 are not allowed to canopy tour.

If you like you can also visit the nearby Turu BaRi Tropical Park located some 90 minutes from San Jose. This park offers both by cable and zip-line canopy tours with a kind of ski-lift. These lifts have enclosed cabins with open windows, a good option if you want your children to enjoy a canopy tour as well.
