Arenal Volcano
Tour companies are not only a reliable way of seeing a country, but they are also economical and cost effective as well. By organizing your entire trip for you right down to your transportation details, a tour company lets you enjoy a completely tranquil vacation where you don’t have to even lift a finger.

Alajuela is a great destination to tour as this province offers much to see and explore. Visit the quaint towns of Atenas, Grecia, Sarchi, San Ramon, Naranjo and Zarcero to get a feel for what rural Costa Rica is all about. Sarchi is a must visit for any tourist as it is famous for its Oxcart souvenirs and wooden handicrafts. The workmanship here is topnotch with reasonable prices.

For a more exciting tour visit the Poas Volcano and the Arenal Volcano in their respective national parks. Great destinations with plenty of hiking, wildlife watching and trekking opportunities, the Arenal makes for a superb weekend getaway. Visit the Tabacon Hot Springs at La Fortuna to unwind and relax, while if you prefer a more active vacation, visit the Laguna de Arenal for some excellent fishing and windsurfing opportunities. There are some great canopy tours in this part of the Alajuela province as well as excellent horseback riding trails, kayaking and whitewater rafting.

A short distance from San Jose, Alajuela city offers all the modern comforts of urban life without being too close to the city. Enjoying a more peaceful and unhurried lifestyle, this pretty city previously known as Villa Hermosa is a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of the capital.

There are plenty of tour companies in Alajuela if you wish to plan your trip from here. Remember that when choosing a tour company, look for one accredited by the Costa Rican Tourist Board. Also make sure that your tour is completely guided all the way through with transportation arrangements as well as fluent English and Spanish speaking guides. One thing more that you need to keep in mind is that since Alajuela is a popular tourist destination; make an early reservation for your tour so that you are not left behind.
