Find a Local Bar in Heredia
The beautiful province of Heredia is a wonderful place to use as a base camp to enjoy the rest of Costa Rica. Located ideally just a short distance away from
San Jose
, this lush and green region is home to picturesque countryside vistas and verdant rolling hills, making it a superb place to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Home to the magnificent
Braulio Carrillo National Park
and its famous Volcan
Barva
, Heredia is also well known for its lush coffee plantations. Here you can find the Café Britt Finca, which grows some of the best organic coffee in Costa Rica.
In Heredia, bars are usually found either as part of a restaurant or a hotel. However, many roadside cafes and food stalls also sell alcoholic drinks. Beer is the drink of choice for most Ticos who usually like to have a cold beer in the evening, after a long hard day of work. Imperial beer is the most popular local beer in Costa Rica at the moment, but if you prefer many foreign beers such as Heineken and Bud are also available.
If you are interested in trying something stronger, have some guaro which is made from distilled sugarcane. Colorless and quite sour, this is a good drink to have at night to kickback and relax. Costa Rican rum is also worth a try. Though some of the best rum is available in
Limon
, you can find a good bottle almost anywhere.
The provincial capital of Heredia is home to most of the bars in the province. The
Silicon Valley of Costa Rica, the city of Heredia
has since the 1990’s emerged as the high-tech capital of Costa Rica producing microchips on massive scale. Intel, Microsoft and Oracle all have offices here, meaning that this city is fast becoming a key economic region in the country.
Most of the hotels and accommodations in Heredia have bars on their premises along with in-house restaurants to cater to their guests. Mini-bars are available in most hotel rooms as well, if you want to have a drink in the privacy of your room.
