Fast becoming a popular destination for nature lovers and adventure travelers, Cartago is a wonderful province to stay in. Just a short distance from San Jose, this province is also known for its superb whitewater rafting with the Rios Reventazón and Pacuare located here. In Cartago you will also find a number of key historical sites like the Guayabo National Monument, the Iglesia de San Jose Orosí, the oldest church in Costa Rica and the Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles, which is home to La Negrita, Costa Rica’s patron saint.

If you are looking to relax in Cartago you will find plenty of opportunities to do so with a number of spas located in the hotels and resorts here. The Rio Perlas Resort and Spa is located in the stunning Orosí Valley, with its own hot spring pool and a full service spa. The only mountain spa in Costa Rica, the Rio Perlas lies close to a number of Cartago’s tourist attractions. This resort offers relaxing messages as well as mountain and thermal water swimming pools and baths. Some of the spa treatments you can experience here include exfoliation treatments, facials, body cocoons and Dermajet and Infrajet treatments.

Another wonderful spa in Cartago is at the Casa Turire Hotel. Located in TurrialbaTurrialba, this upscale hotel is set in beautifully landscaped gardens with a number of facilities, including a swimming pool, tennis court and game room .Horseback riding is also available for guests, along with mountain biking and guided walks in the nearby rainforest. The spa out here offers a number of treats and massages. Children under 16 are not allowed at the hotel.
