San Jose province is small in terms of size, but this region is the most populated with more than a million people. The transportation hub of the country, staying here allows you to get to wherever you need with little to no hassle. San Jose is a fantastic place for those who love the urban life. Here you can find anything you want with plenty of shopping centers, bars, clubs, restaurants, hotels, museums and colorful markets found all over the place. Staying here also means easy access to banks, hospitals and ATMs.

You can arrive at the Juan Santamaria International Airport, check into any of the accommodations here and make it your primary residence for the duration of your trip. Rentals, condos, apartments, villas and vacation homes, this city has it all. You can also stay at an all inclusive resort in the San Jose area. Most of the all inclusive resorts are situated in towns like Santiago de Puriscal, San Gerardo de Dota, Santa Ana and Escazu.

Finding accommodationsrestaurants, and shopping centers. Whether you require a small one room motel, a vacation rental or a boutique suite, San Jose has it all. You can also find a number of cheap hotels near the Coca Cola bus terminal, which are ideal if you are in the city for just a day.

If this part of San Jose gets too noisy for you then stay in Barrio Amón or Los Yoses, which are close enough to the downtown area but far away enough to ensure a good night’s sleep. If you are looking for some place more quiet then head into La Sabana, Escazu, Rohrmoser, San Pedro or San Antonio de Belen. These suburban areas are located just 15 to 20 minutes from downtown, but offer tourists with a more tranquil reprieve. Spacious and well maintained the vacation rentals in these San Jose suburbs range from the posh to the affordable.

There are also golf resorts in San Jose. Located in Santa Ana, one of the best golf resorts to play at is the Valley del Sol with its 18-hole par 72 course. If you are a more serious golfer then head on over to the Cariari Country Club and its beautiful 18-hole championship course located just outside of San Jose near the Juan Santamaria International Airport. Also, a great place for a business meeting and a quick game of golf is the Costa Rica Country Club, a short 9-hole course located in Escazu.
