Seafood is expensive in San Jose, but do not worry, as it is always fresh from the coast. Most San Jose restaurants serve everything from beef and chicken to seafood, even vegetarian dishes are available everywhere nowadays. Do try out the local Tico food when you’re in San Jose as it is extremely healthy and nutritious. Rice and beans are the staple diet in Costa Rica and is usually eaten for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Casado, gallo pinto and tortillas are popular local foods, and can usually be found in anywhere, from a restaurant to a roadside stall or soda.
