If you're like me, you love a good cup of coffee! There is just something comforting about sipping on some java, and Costa Rica is home to the best gourmet blends in the world in my humble opinion. While there are several coffee tours that teach you about harvesting and the process of getting the bean into your cup, one of my favorites is the Britt Coffee Tour that takes place just north of downtown Heredia. Since 1991, nearly 1 million visitors have toured the working plantation and roastery. As the original Costa Rican coffee tour, there's no better place in Costa Rica to visit if you're a caffeine fiend! I had so much fun during my experience at the coffee plantation - I just couldn't wait to share my story with you...[More]
If you're like me, you love trying new foods when you travel! Getting to taste the cuisine of a certain country or region tells a lot about the people who live there, the culture and beliefs. I was very excited when I found out I was getting the opportunity to go to one of my favorite places in Costa Rica: Que Rico Arenal Restaurant. Situated right in front of the gorgeous Arenal Volcano, Que Rico offers a unique dining experience with sprawling views and yummy dishes...[More]
Have you ever wanted to wake up and see a towering volcano out your window? At the Arenal Volcano Inn, that's a reality! During my recent travels across Costa Rica, I was lucky enough to stay here, and I must say it lived up to all the hype! Featuring 25 hotel rooms, this Inn is fairly secluded so you'll be able to relax, but it's within just a few steps or hops in my case to some of the best resources available at in La Fortuna. Not convinced yet? I'll share with you the tales of my adventure and it might just change your mind...[More]
Have you ever been white water rafting? It's one of the most thrilling experiences I've ever had!! The great people at Wave Expeditions in La Fortuna helped me get over my fear of raging down a river for the first time. Man, was I nervous! But I was able to lead the boat down the rapids and my sticky feet pads made it easy for me to grip on tight...[More]
It's no secret that coffee is one of Central America's most important crops and exports. However, if you've ever wondered how your morning cup of joe gets from the rolling hills of Costa Rica to your cup, come with me and let's find out on the Espiritu Santos Coffee Tour in Naranjo![More]
Exploring the beautiful Costa Rican countryside can be hungry work! When you're out and about discovering the hidden gems of Alajuela, why not stop at Charly's for some chicharones? I can't figure out why anyone would prefer these tasty treats to a delicious dragonfly, but to each their own, I suppose![More]
If you're looking for the ultimate in adrenaline-pumping excitement, head to Naranjo in Alajuela. In addition to the lush tropical rainforests, exotic wildlife and rolling hills, you'll also find Tropical Bungee, a company that has been providing tourists with the ultimate bungee jumping and adventure sports experiences for more than 20 years. Come with me to learn more about this exciting activity![More]
Well, it took me quite a while to hop out here, but here we are in the town of Orotina, located in the province of Alajuela. Fortunately, it'll only take you about 45 minutes to drive here from San Jose if you take the Ciudad Colón-Orotina highway - so if you happen to see me hopping along the side of the road, you can slow down and give me a ride, if you like. I wouldn't mind resting my eyes - and legs - for a minute.[More]
